Hagalaz Runedance – The Oath He Swore One Winters' Day Lyrics 16 years ago
In the beginning, the narrator has a vision of a boy turned warrior who wants to avenge his people's plight and death at the hands of Christian(?) crusaders. It probably took place in the Scandanavian/Germanic/Celtic regions where people widely practiced paganism before the Romans came with Christianity. Even when the crusaders tried to shame them and their beliefs, they stood tall until the Christians decided to kill them. When the narrator ends their vision, I guess they see the descendents of the people who were massacred (probably of the boy since he was the only survivor), who have never forgotten their heritage.

Rasputina – 1816, The Year Without A Summer Lyrics 17 years ago
I just learned about Tambora in Landforms class. I was like, "Ohhh! So that's what Rasputina was singing about!"

Nightwish – Sleeping Sun Lyrics 17 years ago
Well, I read that this song was originally written to commemorate the solar eclipse that took place during the time (the single even came with a nifty pair of glasses so you could view the eclipse with them). But this song actually reminds me more of the "polar night" phenomenon which happens in the polar, Nordic regions, Finland included.

Tarja Turunen – Ciaran's Well Lyrics 17 years ago
I originally interpretted that the ghost of a woman haunts a forest, supposedly where the well is. Only the spell from a holy man or someone of the sort can allow her spirit to go to the other side. From Satakieli's comment, the woman probably made a wish that eventually caused her death... And now she is doomed to haunt the well for all eternity.
