I think this song is about a Queen, hence the title as TappiTikkarrass pointed out. To me, it seems like a song of praise to a queen and also, it's talking about how her role is an ancient one. I have no idea who "Johnny" is and the ranting in the background cracks me up. I think Johnny could possibly represent a regular person bumbling along in his everyday life, juxtaposing that against the life of the queen kinda. |

I really love this song. I think it's obviously a song about not believing in god, but I like that it sounds so optimistic. To me it's kind of like she's declaring that she doesn't believe in god but is daydreaming about how exciting and magical it would be if he did exist. To me, it seems like she knows what she believes deep down, but is open to magical things in life and even though this is what she believes, she could be wrong. But in the end, she still believes it;) This song is just so clean sounding and happy. It sounds carefree and I think that's a really nice change for a song with this subject matter. Kind of like " I don't believe this, but it's just my point of view and it isn't because I'm a bitter person." |

Hmmm... You know....I'm big into analyzing and trying to figure out the meanings of lyrics, but honestly, I think certain songs are more about composition and imagery and mood than anything else. The impression that I get from this song is that he's remembering playing in the snow as a child. As far as the blood, kids do fall down and get hurt while they're playing. The fact that this song employs so much rhyming and is sung in rounds is also reminiscent of childhood. It reminds me of a nursery rhyme being sung in rounds as children are often taught to do;) I'm not so certain that there's an enormously profound hidden meaning in it. It is very beautiful;) |

I can't believe more people haven't commented on this song. I think it is absolutely beautiful. To me, this song is just about being grateful to be alive and experience the simple things in life. |

This song is so beautiful, and I agree with Blanksky, the Lon Gisland version is even better. I think the first stanza in the song is about trying to figure out some sort of complicated situation and getting bogged down and tired out by it. The second stanza takes a broader view. He removes himself from the situation and reminds himself that there's more to life than the day to day stuff. |

I love this song, and I do believe it has a political meaning. But, it can also be looked at in a more general way. To me, this is a song about dealing with a profound and sudden change in your life, the ensuing confusion afterward when you try to make sense of it all and try to decide which way to turn. I guess it does tie in with the political stuff. I really love this song and it meant a lot to me over the past year as I dealt with the aftermath of a serious accident. The lyrics, and the music are achingly beautiful to me. |

| Bonnie Raitt – I Can't Make You Love Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |

The most touching part of the song to me is : I'll close my eyes, then I won't see The love you don't feel when you're holding me Morning will come and I'll do what's right Just give me till then to give up this fight And I will give up this fight In such a short and simple stanza, so much is said. I know this feeling and it's amazing to me that it could be put so accurately into words. To me, this is (obviously) a song about unrequited love, but it also conveys very realistically the pain and hesitation in trying to move on from it. It's sad because it's so simple and to the point. She wants to be close to him in whatever capacity he will accept her because she loves him, but she knows he doesn't feel that way toward her. It's a hard truth and this song is very honest about it. |
