When he played this at the Buffalo show last April, he introduced as his "Chris Richardson cover song". (Chris Richardson sang this during last season's American Idol). I almost died of laughter. :-P yeah I saw when chris did it, and he totally blew the "Who wouldn't care if you com...plete him or not" he changed it to "who wouldnt care if you come with me or not,"...yeah lame, I know :D The beauty of this song is the inneundo laced in every line, Chris's "version" totally ruins the song my opinion. I just wanted to slap him and say, "leave well enough a alone! You ain't now Jason Mraz!" LOL |

| I agree. I first came to know about Jason Mraz through a friend of mine who fell for a girl who he worked with and was totally out of his leage. They were this song and he wasn't even shy about saying so, posted this song on his myspace and even went to her apartment and sang it to her LOL. Hes a skinny white boy from a conservative background and she was a curvy popular black girl who on a good day might remember his name, but he wouldn't have any of it. He totally pursued her, and let her know what she'd be missing out on. If I didn't know this song was written years before, I'd swear Jason knew my friend and his quest. Oh and he won her too...they were together for awhile. :D | |

I recently heard a live version of this on the radio in which he changed the lyric "It’s our god-forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved" to "it's out god-intended right" I actually like that a ton better. He also changed "so I can nibble (I've also heard "lick on") your ear" to "so I can whishper in your ear" I like the first versions better. Any who love this guy, have for years and years! |

intersting take. I always seen this song from the song writer/band/singers POV. I've thought it was a describtion of what it was like for the singer to be reviered by the masses and the stress that the musisian has trying to share the TRUTH and not get wrapped up in the commercialism of fame. No one would love me (fans) if they knew all the things i hide My words fall to the floor (people not hearing the truth) As tears drip through the telephone line And the hands i've seen raised to the sky (people in the audience) Not waving but drowning all this time I'll try to build an ark that they need (using the vessle of music to preach the truth) To float to you upon the crystal sea Anyway, thats probably wrong but its what has always popped up in my mind :D |

I love this song! Its more than just a love song in my opinion. He totally take what could be just a cute romantic song and builds a platform about health relationships! it feels like nobody's on your side no access to your pride you gotta learn to take control your whole body is a temple so you've got a choice to make and your mind is what's at stake so before we build this love please believe that you're good enough This song is so positive, it blows my mind. When is the last time you heard a song where the guy is saying he wants the girls he's into to respect her body cuz its a temple? That rocks! I mean come on, when is the last time you heard a song where the guy is telling the girl he's diggin' that he loves her mind? "But you sure better believe me when I tell you your minds whats hot"! Its so refeshing to hear a song about how love is respecting the other person, not just about getting into their pants! I love me some Eric Hutchinson!!! |

I agree with MokeyMarta here about this song. I think it’s a cleverly disguised stab at the whole "club scene" actually. I think if you listen peripherally you hear a story about two people who get drunk and sleep together, but when you really listen and dissect the phrases, you totally pick up on Erics views on the whole clubbing scene. He uses clever phrases like "another chance for CHEAP romance" and "if only in the morning she knew where she lived" and "doesn't count cuz the room is spinning," too clearly show how lame and hollow he thinks the whole lifestyle is. I think it's brilliant, and I totally love him for picking this for his single! It’s a brave choice in my opinion! One of the major things I like about Eric Hutchinson is that he's not afraid to put his morals into his songs, morals that by "secular" opinions could be viewed as conservative or old fashioned. I like that his music has a point view and that that view is postive. |
