This is such an awesome song. Why has no one commented on it?
I think Jay Brannan's honesty is really refreshing and I love the sincere, unapologetic tone to this song. He knows that "real men" shouldn't wanna be housewives but he does and sees nothing wrong with it. I think it's brilliant. |

To me it doesn't sound like it's about the end of the world at all. I've always thought that it perfectly describes trying to help an addict who is constantly relapsing. My friend is dating an addict who relapses at least once a month and I always know when he does because my friend listens to this song and says that it's speaking to her. The lines "I was carrying you/so your footsteps disappeared" sounds like when you try to carry and take care of a person under the influence. The chorus reminds me of the phrase "hitting rock bottom" and the anger that others can feel when a person does that over and over again. |
