Nightwish – A Return To The Sea Lyrics 17 years ago
I like your interpretation, but I disagree a bit.

Mother, of course, is Nature. But the song is not about de-evolution (I like the expression), but it's about evolution in which mankind as we know is gone. Perhaps you're right, but it's de-evolution, but only for the man. The tyrant (mankind) returns to the sea (evolution begins from the sea). With the human gone, every other creature can live in peace & harmony.

The idea of the song is, roughly speaking, that humans are the scum of the Earth, and that they are ruining everything. Without the human, everything and everyone would "live long and prosper".

Metaphorically, we could connect it to the famous Stalin quote "Death solves all problems, no man - no problem".

Perhaps Tuomas doesn't mean to say that whole mankind is evil, but that each person is greatest source of their own problems.

Nightwish – Dead To The World Lyrics 17 years ago
I think you are right there, he cosiders himself different from what the world expects. Also, "The Beast" probably means that he considers himself a beast for doing something wrong, beastial in the past (Maybe he used to act different from his current principles?). Perhaps being "The Beast" inspired him to search for "The Child" and "The Home", and create such a wonderful opus of poetry and music.

Nightwish – Beauty Of The Beast Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree upon the most with Snowball. But I think that first part is more about the fear of FAILING to return the long lost love, and realising just how much he misses his former lover.

The second part, starting with "Safely away from the world...", is marking a breaking point. At this point, he no grieves for the lost love, but decides to try once again to reclaim it, to fight for his dreams once again. This part is about desire to succeed, and a fearless endeavor.

"My home is far, but the rest, it lies so close, with my long lost love under the black rose"
Home in Tuomas' song (check out "Meadows of Heaven") usually refers to the time (not the place) when he felt good and satisfied. So this means that "perfect life" (or love) is gone forever, but the rest from the quest lies so close. the black rose stands for death, so this would mean that love is gone, died. Therefore, it is obvious that he desires to bring dead love to life.

"You told I had the eyes of the wolf, search them and find The Beauty of The Beast" is a reference to his mistakes and flaws that made him lose the love in the firt place, and yet about certain magic and meaning of those mistakes.

"All of my songs can only be composed of..." is a simple truth of life: In greatest pains we find greatest strngths, greatest achievments can only come from greatest failures and desires.

Therest of the song is pretty much an attempt to justify the mistake, until the last part. Last part is a monologue, not a message for the lover. It tells about his ultimate failure, and an irreconciable grief.

I'd connect this song to the song "Ever Dream", which is pretty much "the other side" of the same chapter of life.

Nightwish – Ever Dream Lyrics 17 years ago
Well, of course it's a love song. About love unreturned, but yet a miraculous and happy one.

"Would you do it for me, heal the scars, and change the stars?" is one of my favourite lines by Nightwish. It means "Would you undo the mistakes, and change the destiny"

"Ever felt away with me, just once, that all I need" means that the true love poet seeks, has never been given to him from the person the song is dedicated to, or that he never expirienced true love.

"My love, it lies so deep" probably means to say that the poet wasn't in love with the person from the very start, but that realised it later. Combined with "Heal the scars" part, it would propably mean that the poet is in love with a person that used to love him, but loves him no more.

All in all, I'd say it's about desire to return the long lost love ("Beauty of the Beast"), with a childlish desire, inspired by dreams and innocence.

As to the "All I ever craved...", it is here that it is made obvious that this love is never going to happen, but yet, the poet regrets it not, but enjoys it.

I'd say it's that, cause it reminds me awfully-a-lot about one expirience I had. :S:S:S

Nightwish – Bless The Child Lyrics 17 years ago
I do agree upon most of the things you said.

But I think that "A white rose whitering" means "End of Innocence", I don't find a lot in common for this line and the song Ever Dream (perhaps you would like to explain it further?).

"A newborn drowning a lifetime loneliness"... I think it's not really in connection with those songs, but about an idea, misunderstood and rejected from the very beginning.

The last thing is that I don't think it's about "talking to his work", but more stating a general "rules" of the life.

As, to the rest, I completely agree, and like your imterpretation.

I'd go back to medieval symbols for death, time, and life (or youth, perhaps), those would be a skull, an hourglass, and flower.

So I think that flower stands for youth or life, and withering between pg. 2 & 3 would mean ending of youth or (purpose) in life between 20 & 30 years of age.

As to the rest, "Walk the dark path/Sleep with angels/Call the past for help/Touch me with your love/And reveal to me my true name" makes me think that song is acctually about grevious loss, propably caused by the poet's mistake (taking the dark path). With this mistake, a hope for being happy is also gone. So, yes, I agree with "no body" and "seeker" meanings, but this is probably about the last endeavour to right the wrongs one has done.
