I think its just about a guy who doesn't care about anything. I thought it was perfect that John Mayer covered this song. His personality fits it- tons of girls, tons of attention and he is just free falling - he knows there is something sad about it but he cant help it either, he just doesn't care enough. I think it offers the perspective of what is going on in all the 'bad boys' heads for the 'good girls'. |

I love this song. It is very haunting. This song takes you into the mind of the jerk. Describing hte mindset of that guy who treats you poorly. Its a confession that he is a bad guy and all those other terms and it is brutally honest, not very apologetic, just describing the situation as it is. And it gives the best advice for those of us dealing with people like that, RUNAWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN...

I see the song the exact same way you do. It took me a while to see it that way, I used to think 'it all comes down to you' meant some boy, but it means yourself, it always comes back to just you, your gypsy self. |

For me, this song is about how we are all really alone. It is about how you just have yourself. At times we think we have all these things that make us better than we were before but we always go back to our 'gypsy' self, the version of ourself that is entirely self reliant. And 'lightening strikes, maybe once maybe twice' and we get someone to be with us,and we lose our gypsy, but in the end ' it all comes down to you ' like it always comes back to yourself. in your life no matter how much you think youve moved on from that alone version of yourself, you get back to those moments where you are back to where you started, 'back to the velvet underground'. So for Stevie, this song was when her best friend died and she realized she was just by herself again, back to her gypsy. I feel like life repeadedly has those moments where you are back to your gypsy and thats why this song is just so touching. |

So, this is going to be far fetched. but what if it is about joe jonas. how do we know it was written when she was 14/15? some of the other songs like come in with the rain and untouchable we know were written when she was younger because she had already peformed them live but we never heard superstar before this rerelease. so lets say this is her post breakup song about joe jonas. the reason i think this is because it sounds like she has had a relationship with the person who the song is about, by saying 'this is wrong by i cant help but feel like there aint nothing more right babe' doesnt seem like somehting you say about a stranger. and i think its post break up because of lines like 'id be breaking all my rules to see you'. and its sarcastic, at points like ' give me a photograph to hang on my wall, superstar" i think she is making fun of his ego, and saying im no one special you are this superstar, when really she is a superstar, bigger than him... i dont know, just my thoughts. |

I think this song is about being at a point in your life where you know you need to leave something from your past but your not sure if you are strong enough to do it. the best line is 'i've been afraid of changing because i built my life around you'. Its about being lost, not sure whats going to happen in the future, and hoping you will be a good person. another powerful line is "can the child within my heart rise above". this is my favourite song of all time. its just amazing. |

this song makes me cry. its just so sweet. and i think it just hits home for anyone who grew up with really loving parents. the line "I know you were on my side even when I was wrong " just makes me think of my parents and how they are always there for me. or when she says "god smiles on my little brother inside and out hes better than i am" shows how much she just loves her family and how she sees how hes so great. thats how i think about my sister. this is just such a beautiful song about loving your family and how they are the ones who are there for you no matter what. |
