| Soundgarden – Boot Camp Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I must obey the rules I must be tame and cool No staring at the clouds I must stay on the ground ----------The pysche of a person assimilating to Military Boot camp. This song hits the nail on the head with my and my friends experiences, the loss of being an individual free thinking person.--------- In clusters of the mice The smoke is in our eyes Like babies on display Like angels in a cage --------- Being in formation, marching, tear-gas chamber, most of us babies at 18 yrs old.--------- I must be pure and true I must contain my views There must be something else There must be something good Far away ----------Something good is what you dream about when the night comes. When you let your guard down. Kindness, self-expression, love. It doesn't exist in bootcamp. You can only fantasize about it in the sleeping hours. Much like the way this song sounds like a dream, a lullaby for the bootcampers.---- |

| Ben wrote Half- half a chance and zero chance on the next album. I didn;t get this song or appreciate it when I was 16, but into my late 20s early 30s I like it alot. | |

Attention... wannabe Cornell Soundgarden fans! This song was written by Ben Shepard, not Cornell. I too love this song for many reasons. Lyrically it's beautiful in it's dire matter of factness. The melody and tempo of Chris's vocals with Matt's defining drum beats, the guitar etc. Does anyone else notice that Ben wrote "Half" on Superunknown. ..."We still have half a chance.." and Ben wrote "Zero Chance" "Zero chance of ever turning this around" on the bands last album? Ironic or prophetic... That band had talent to burn. |

| Soundgarden – 4th of July Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think CC wrote this song like many of his, with random thoughts intertwined, incredible imagery and great lines weaved together to make a kick-ass song. I doubt he sits down and writes songs with a certain agenda. I'm sure some his songs are thematic, just don't expect a whole song to pigeon-holed into one easily decipherable subject. | |
