Amanda Palmer – The Point of It All Lyrics 15 years ago
From the first moment I read these lyrics I've thought she's singing about a supressed and lonely housewife, or someone along those lines. Taking that Amanda has sung about women's position in the society and equality issues before, I just can't come up with other interpretions. What's the Use of Wond'rin is another example with similar themes (confirmed by the pictures that accompany the lyrics of the song on the hompage of the album)

I see the woman in the lyrics as supressed by her forced life and position in the society. The references to the (sewing) needle, sewing, the dryer, staring at the walls, men who measured dimensions and made a mess of her face, are parts of a portrait of a stereotypical housewife. I get a mental image of movies from the 50's. Women whose place is in the kitchen, women who should hold the sewing needle instead of a life of their own. The sad thing is she plays along with it, which this song is really about. For me that is.

Amanda Palmer – Guitar Hero Lyrics 15 years ago
"X marks the box in the hole in your head" Genious, I'd go for violent media desensitising us to real-life violence. I don't really believe we even need to do research to see that. I think we all have our own experiences on media violence and how we don't feel a thing while watching it. Now, ok, I'm the evil conservative who wants to steal the video games from the violence addicts, but I've really come to hate it with deep passion >_>

I don't know about you, whoever is reading this, but I'm trying to work hard to fill this damned hole in my head.

Björk – All Is Full of Love Lyrics 15 years ago
I recently fell in love with the Strings mix of this song. It's very beautiful in all its simplicity and of course Björk sings beautifully as ever :)

And the video.. Well, I love it as well. I guess there's been some talk about both of the robots being female, thus suggesting homosexuality. I wouldn't look into that much if the video was released just recently but it's been 10 years already, and homosexuality was a lot more controversial subject, so I wouldn't wonder if one of the motives there was to embrace homosexuality, especially that Björk has said she's bisexual. I'd look at it as a timeless video in the first place, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel more related to it because of the homosexuality :3

The song itself.. Man.. One of the prettiest things I've ever heard. Yesterday I took a walk with my mp3 player and only played the Strings mix over and over again. That's very rare in my case. But I just couldn't stop. Such a contrast to the underlying misantrophy in music these days.

Inina Gap – The World Lyrics 15 years ago
Okay I guess the lines I used to separate the girl's vocals from the guy's didn't get through so I'll just say it here. This is a sort of dialogue between two people:

1. verse - girl
2. verse - guy
3. verse - girl
4. verse - guy
5. paragraph is the chorus
6. verse - girl
7. verse - guy
8. verse - girl
9. verse - guy
10. the last part of the lyrics, sung by the girl

There you have it =P

Björk – Alarm Call Lyrics 15 years ago
Agreed with jesswa ;)

"I have walked this earth and watched people.
I can be sincere and say I like them"

That's actually such a powerful statement. Makes it sound like she's got some misanthropes around her claiming the opposite. You know those "realistic ones" claiming the "truth" about our little rotten human hearts. Misanthropy isn't really about being aware of the facts as much as it's about not giving a damn. The strenght of this statement is that she doesn't have to lie about it. She's neither wrong or naive. She genuinely means what she says, and she's not scared to say it out loud :)

"I do believe in the power of music to change things. I do sometimes feel like I'm the only one left who believes that." -Björk

This song couldn't really be any better an example of that statement there.

astrobrite – Ultrablast Lyrics 15 years ago
The japanese import release of "Pinkshinyultrablast" comes with a lyrics sheet, from which I took all these lyrics from. However, I read somewhere a message from Scott Cortez regarding the lyrics that he didn't even know the lyrics himself since he just sang whatever came to his mind. However, the record company(?) wouldn't release the album without the lyrics so he just had to listen to it over and over again and depicher the lyrics himself. So, these aren't *really* the "official" lyrics, so your guess is as good as his =P
