I agree, this is beautifully sad, the knowledge that something so close to you is suddenly and enevitably about to change, and there is nothing you can do. Love and life are often out of our hands and that's the beauty of both. He's hoping he will not loose (her/him), and all he can do is watch it slip away. It may be about death or someone he loves or both. I feel it's about a lover that has emotionally moved on and while they haven't physically gone, they are just going through the motions, void of any real feeling. To suggest the idea, without revealing it, gives greater meaning to each listener because we fill in the gaps and meanings as we believe fit. Great lyrics. |
