This is just a theory, but I honestly think that this song may be about Aaron leaving the band. I mean, people may be skeptical, but hear me out first: The first verse may not have much evidence towards my claim, but the chorus kinda does: When this thing breaks. I will be you You will be me. I pray that this is really happening. I feel that their speaking from Aaron's stand point, as in him saying, "After the band breaks apart, I will be like you, and then you will be like me." Speaking as he won't be a famous band member anymore, he'll be a normal person. And the "I pray that this is really happening" kinda speaks as though he's really ready to break away from Underoath and persue his own thing. And the "Where have I been?"'s kinda make me feel like Aaron is asking where he's been, because he's been busy doing acoustic show's and working with The Almost, and not really been with Underoath. As well as the "I'm a terrible company with zero apologies." kind of makes me think as though Aaron is saying that he's been terrible company for the band, moving away from them and maybe his family to work on multiple projects at once, and he hasn't been to apologetic for it. And then the "I'm worn out, I'm worn thin, I will never break through." Kind of strikes me as Aaron saying "I'm tired of touring in a hardcore band" And maybe that he is ready to break through and move on to other things. And of course, the "Where have I been?" thing echoes again. And of course, "Let me out!" Is kind of like Aaron screaming that he's ready to be let out of the band. Of course, I may be entirely wrong, but this is just my theory. Maybe Aaron and the band knew about his departure when this album was written, and perhaps they just never said anything and let Aaron write a song expressing his opinion. |

Okay, so here's my theory: This song goes along with the general story of the album as a reference to the whole general idea of the story, just in a different time period. Betrayal. Greed. All of the aspects of the over all story of the album, but sort of in the form of a story book. Which is my point. I think that this song is a book that the main character is reading to his child (daughter, I believe), sort of like a bedtime story. This would make sense as it only places references to the main story, but doesn't actually mention the main characters. He want's to show his daughter what he's going through, but put it in a more epic bedtime story. But anyways, just my speculation. Open to all interpretation. |

God, i love this song. Its the equivilant of you had me at hello from and their name was treason ADTR doesnt write many love songs, but when they do, their awesome this really relates to my life right now i think its about a girl that has someone else she loves but then there is a guy that always loves her and promises he will never let her fall, and will always love her more than anyone else |
