The end isn't about leaving the Merrie city anymore, i'm thinking its about leaving his girl, and he's comparing her or their relationship to wakefield in that it doesn't change and it leaves him wanting. His efforts to improve it or find fulfillment in it have failed and he has to end it.

I also think C'Mere is a little better than this one, more polished. The new verses seem less hurried and more in place.
But this song is really nice too, I think they should've kept the "Love me now I wanna hold you like a dove" verse I really like how it fits with the music. |
