It isn't silly. For the longest time i just listened to this song, until my father past away. The day after his death i heard this song and to me it spoke a lot about loosing someone that is close to you. As if that person who had died was trying to console you. Perhaps this song isn't ment to be about that, but to me it is, and will now forever be. I can't listen to this song now without thinking about my dad. "I will live in you, or you will live in me" The memories of your loved one will, after death, will live on in you on and on and on. "please don't cry, we are designed to die" death is just a part of life. |

I believe that you are on the right track. I do recall in an interview that Jeff Tweedy said that MUSICALY it was supposed to reflect the panic attacks that he would self medicate for. hense the crazy surges in the playing of the guitar, drums, and (when watching live) the lights.
Regardless of its true meaning. This song is brilliant. I am impressed in their bravery for writing and playing songs that are from the heart, and that are truly more like pieces of art rathar than the poppy tunes that most musicians produce these days. Not to mention the amazing instrumentals. Nels Cline has to be one of the best guitarists i've heard (Impossible Germany). |

i started an account just because i thought this fact about the song was to cool not to publicize!! i went to school with these guys.. anyway, In the part where Sean says "you know i rep this shit, ive got it tatted on my skin" its true.. he has a tattoo of "three oh three" on his calf.. then Nat says "you know i rep this shit, i got my hands upon your chest" the main merchandise they sell are t-shirts with his handprints (logo) on the chest area... main logo/symbol are two hands forming a 3(with your pinky ring and mid fingers) then a zero (pointer & thumb) and again with the other hand... look it up if your confused... anyway.. great song go Boulder!!!
