You retards...... Tool guitarist Adam Jones has stated in an interview that the song is about a friend of the band whose artistic expression only comes out when he is under the influence. "A lot of people give him shit for that," Jones explains. "If you become addicted and a junkie, well, that's your fault." That's what the song Sober is about.... Sometimes we take lyric's and understand them from our own intrepretation, etc. but a lot of times when we do that we miss out on the grand scheme of things... if ever in question do your research before you post your "meaning" of a Tool,APC or Puscifer song. |

No, what he is saying is: Whether it be fame, fortune, glory, or money... we seem to all want it..(misprinted lies)... He talking about being alone on top of the world. He says, "No one to cry to, no place to call home." He feels left out in the crowd. The part where he says, "My gift of self is raped." He means, he is so controlled by touring, publicity, people, etc. that he feels he cannot be himself or have his own life beyond his fame/band. The part where he talks about, "If I can't be my own, I'd FEEL better dead.." He say's very clearly that he doesn't feel like he is allowed to live or be himself anymore and being dead would feel better than to be controlled.... The song is black and white... Love this band...they have always been one of my favorites... |

Wow, this is an amazing song with a serious twist... I think its talking about lust for sure but jstcloseureyes brought up such a good point. I pulled the scriptures and it does say, "He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord, come." verse 21 says, "The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen." I think Maynard has such an extreme way of writing in such fascinating intensity. I think Maynard writes above most "minds" most people would say its talking about lust but I don't think its necessarily talking about lust in a sexual manner. I think he is talking about lust in more of a spiritual nature. Maybe Maynard is talking about sex but he seems to always write beyond the obvious...it's always deeper than what it appears to be. I think this band is one of the best bands of all time… They are brilliant. . |
