| the problem with half the sutff on thier other album, our first taste of escape, ist hat they're missing a small vibe. the vibe they portray well in the song... also, the progression of the songs are un-penfold like. it sounds more verse-chorus-verse... but, that dosn't meab ut isn't good... its damn brilliant. this song brings me to tears. watching the footage from thier last show is one of the most moving things i've ever seen. especially for this song. In my opinion, this song is about being in love with something, and then having it disapear very, very fast. with the quote in the begining of the song, i feel its about the punk rock movement, how its disapeared and how its so fake now, how a lot of these punks, deemed 'punk' and 'emo' are just... an apparition. |

I feel thatthis song is about someone falling apart, and possibly turning to a crutch, and from how the song looks, it seems to be self mutalation. "Dissect away a trillion sighs." proves my point. the one armed scissor could be about how desperate you are to get away from reality; its hard to cut away with it. and the part about blacking out the vultures, well, self harming is supposed to num the pain inside. vultures could be symbolic for the pain. there are a lot of other themes that push me to that idea, like the skin graft machine (to hidethe scars maybe?) but I'm too lazy to write them out. hopefully someone gets what I mean. |

to be honest, I think this whole album is about human strugle with substance abuse...this song in particular about how the 'host' (considering the addiction a virus) wants everyone around him to leave so they wont be dragged underas well... and the fact that he wants his life to end becasue he cant live the way he is. "cant mute the virus, once it screams your name" is saying how once your addicted, theres no turning back... and "realive me of life, give me what I came her to get." he means that he wants the drugs to take all the shit away. this is more or less a theory, and the only one who knows what this song is about is Keith. |

To me, this song is about how he has a girlfriend who messes around with his feelings, even if she dosn't mean to, and she always makes him feel so horrible but then at one point makes him happy again, but its all unintentional...It's a cycle, and hes "running around in circles," and pulling his hair in frustration becasue its driving him crazy. as for the fingernail phase thing, I think he means he's picking at wounds that should be healing...Just a theory :P |

This song is great. this band is great. they were one fothe first bands to have hardcore screaming with punk sounds. the father of modern post-hardcore music. im not saying they created the genre, but shaped it. :P the lyrics are totaly punk, i love it, I still consider it punk, and not post-hardcore. Old refused is good too, they were all thrashy...it was really good...but nothing put out as much energy as this song...NOTHING as for the meaning, i think its about how in democracy, its all a ratrace and if you cant afford to live then your just going to die, becasue its a corperate world and thats how it works. you stop leading your life and become a slave to the corperate world. It also takes a bite out of how capatolism works. |

Its about getting off of drugs. in the beggining, hes talking about how he turns to meth every time something bad happens to him. "A box for some peace." proves my point. the second verse, however, holds more evidence. "for awhile i was cleaner than now" = He tried to get off of the drugs, but hes given in because the addiction is too strong "then i started to destroy myself" = He says that he started to do the drugs again becasue he gave in, and it destroyed him. "with things that i love now the things that i hate" = He "destroyed" himself with the things that he loved -the drugs- and he now hates the drugs, but he thinks its his only way out. the hates it, but needs it. "until it finally broke me" = then at one point he just cant take it anymore. the "Fuck my ass, choke me" parts are just written to show frustration. and thats what I see in the song. |
