Excellent interpretation MikeF, You ideas are clear and well supported. I share the same idea of the song being about a one night stand. However, you may need to reanalyze the chrorus. The original lyrics do not contain a comma: How am I supposed to pretend I never want to see you again How am I supposed to pretend I never want to see you again Hence, and just maybe, the writer is having a hard time coping with fact that he had a one night stand and he wanted it to be more. Ergo he's having a hard time pretending that he never wants to see her again. I know it's especially hard not to fall in love with your first one night stand. heeehee The unspoken rule: "Never fall in love with a one night stand" Walked to class, in front of ya Walking to class in front of her to get her attention maybe? Trying to get noticed? In the afternoon, you're out on the stone and grass And I'm sleeping on the balcony after class Mybe he's doing a little spying on the balcony? |
