| Gillian Welch – April the 14th (Part 1) Lyrics

Seriously? Two specific references in this song - firstly about the sinking of the Titanic when it hit an iceberg and secondly about the assasination of Abraham Lincoln "the great emancipator". Obvioulsy both happened on April 14th. |

| Gil Scott-Heron – Home is Where the Hatred is Lyrics
| 17 years ago

No offence mate but I think you should probably do some research about Gil before you start typing rubbish about his family background and his childhood. Gil's parents seemed decent people - his dad played football for Glasgow Celtic FC! Anyway he actually lived with his Gran until she died and then moved back with his mother. He was granted a scholarship to a well known private school! Hardly a tough upbringing.
Not all songs are written in the first person you know - perhaps he was trying to describe how things are for other people who are in that situation? |

Always like to think this is about family - how they have to break up due to working in different parts of the country and how hard it can be to maintain a relationship when they're not there. Almost certainly it's about a partner but that's just the way I like to think about it. |

Bob didn't have his toe amputated because he believed in the rastafarian principle that the body must be "whole". A bit different from losing his leg neilybuck! |

Apparently this song was written when Dylan and Levy wanted to see how many words they could find to rhyme with Mozambique! |

philpy1999 are you joking? The TV reference is clearly about how TV plays such a large part in our culture and how people always start and end their day watching it i.e. the Good morning TV and the good night TV lines. I think there's also a bit more than that but that's good for a starter! It's also a good way to signify the start and end of the song |

I have a grestest hits CD of Black Sabbath which has (radio edit) after the name of this song but it definitely means "radio rental" i.e. mental. talk about record execs not getting the meaning of the song and just looking for the big buck! |

| Black Grape – Kelly's Heroes Lyrics

Always seemed to me that he was singing "sing like serfs" i.e. servants to the rich and powerful. He's saying that people who some think as heroes are actually just the same as you and me - they are servants to the "system". Just a thought! |
