| Tame Impala – Keep on Lying Lyrics | 13 years ago |

To me it seems fairly clear that the narrator has unintentionally led someone on and is having difficulties ending whatever is going on between them. A difficult attempt to explain that whilst he has a certain fascination for her, it never really was love. The last verse is absolutely tragic and fills me with sadness yet I can't stop listening, This album is simply astounding. |

| Little Joy – No One's Better Sake Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I like the above analysis, would just like to add one thing without the intention of sounding like a dickhead So is this how it ends Oh with a whimper instead of bang is a reference to the ending of my favourite poem by T.S Eliot, 'The Hollow Men', which is an amazing and very well-known poem. The last 2 stanzas of the poem: 'For Thine is Life is For Thine is the This is the way the world ends This is the way the world ends This is the way the world ends Not with a bang but a whimper.' It's a very pessimistic poem, claiming that the world will end in the quietest, most miserable way possible, but I think Little Joy are questioning that here, and saying it the world, or the relationship, doesn't have to end that way. |

this song is simply about spending time with the person you love spending time with the most. the vcr reference hints at something kind of old school which would imply its someone you've known a long time. there's an emphasis on the fact that you don't have to be doing extraordinary things to feel as happy as you could ever feel. you could just watch things on a vcr with your favourite person. it's a beautiful song about love and friendship and the beauty of simple pleasures. |

| Marina and the Diamonds – I Am Not a Robot Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I know that people have a tendency to think that every song is about romance but I re ally think that in this case its true (or partially). I also think its about being young. I'm 18 so you might think I know nothing but I can tell you that I know many people exactly like the one Marina is describing. Boys my age in particular. So many of them think that if they act all hard on the outside people will like them but in reality a girl is more likely to go for someone who is themself all the time. For the last two years I've been involved with a guy exactly like that, who doesn't have the confidence or the emotional maturity to be himself or define our relationship. Accepting one's vulnerability is a massive step in strengthening one's character. I think every 18 year old boy should listen to this song. That doesn't mean that I don't think its message is useful to others, its just the way I see it. |

| Bloc Party – SRXT Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Yes great song, but otherwise you're wrong (in my opinion). Just because its not as upbeat as Silent Alarm doesn't take away from this album's genius. Amazing, Deeper album. How can you dismiss songs like Sunday, Kreuzberg, Waiting for the 7.18 as disappointing?! | |
| Sohodolls – Stripper Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| this song is played in one of the best tv episodes ever...has anyone seen the gossip girl when Blair performs for Chuck at Victrola and then gets with him in the limo after. it's AMAZING. this song's amazing anyway but so much better when you watch that scene....for the record, gossip girl season 1 episode 7?? | |

i think black and blue = getting beaten up. and it's the kind of thing that gets swept under the carpet. |
|
| Babyshambles – Albion Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i do to. and i think 'black and blue...about that' refers to the english's knack for avoiding untasteful subject matter. like people being beaten up. | |
| Babyshambles – Albion Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| laboured???how can you say that? we have already established it's a poem. not everything in a poem has to be entirely literal. there may be no queues but there atre certinly disused power stations. yes the lyrics are incomplete but if you are a real Pete fan you'll know that he changes the place names every time he sings the song. so for johnnymac to put '...' is fair enough, because if he put the place names from one version they would be incorrect according to another. | |
| Vampire Weekend – Oxford Comma Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I think there is a deeper meaning, but it's not that deep. you know what people say is that if you start stealing small things you will end up stealing bigger stuff? well i think its the same kind of thing but about lying instead. so (obviously on top of the lil jon song) 'first the window...wall' means whe will tell small lies at first but later big lies. I'm almost certain that's what it means. |

this life is on my side - he's either confident that things will turn out well his way (because life is on his side, meaning that it will back up what he wants), or he's trying to convince himself of that. By the way I like your interpretation XIIIthGuyDude and it kinda fits with mine (just above yours) :) |

| The Strokes – The Modern Age Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This song is about that feeling you get when you really really like someone and are spending summer days with them and everything seems so god-damn beautiful. In this case the guy should be geting round to growing up and settling down and staying off the drugs (i took too many varieties) but he wants to stay young. He is in love with a girl (trying to catch her eye) but is tied down to another girl (don't want you here right now). It has a real sense of 'fuck it' and also that feeling you get when you know what youa re doing is wrong but it feels so good that you can't quite help it. At the end I think he decides to leave the girl he is with and to stay young as long as he possibly can. this song portrays everything beautiful about summer and romance in the most incredible way. Best song on the album and possibly best one they ever wrote. The start of the chorus makes me want to die with happiness, and the slide at the end is an anti-climax in such a good way that it makes you press the repeat buttom. The Modern Age = Summer Romance. Let me know what you think. |

i am also in love with this song. i have to say though, i am 99.9999999 % sure that it is 'if i was like him, all dissing his pa', not 'if i was like him all pissed in this bar' before you rule it out, just listen again. :) |

| Arctic Monkeys – Fake Tales of San Francisco Lyrics | 17 years ago |

i really feel that the lyrics are amazing and tell it like it is. they are totally british and whats wrong with that. i don't care if they use american roots music or whatever, becuase they aren't takking the piss out of american music, just a small sector of the american music business/clientelle. but they really do tell what its like to be a young person growing up in england, especially in red lights indicate and from the ritz. they are one of the most honest bands around. they may be a little arrogant sometimes but its easy to forget how young they still are. for all their faults, they are incredible, blunt, sarcastic, touching and hilarious. oh and does no one else think that practising their lines = cocaine? i'm not sure if that has been said already. |

i think this song is about a guy who is very confused about a girl. he has his doubts, but he has a gut feeling that they are right for each other. "i am your one. believe me, this is our chance."i think the girl also has another guy on her mind as well "no harm, he's armed, setting off all your alarms" like storefronts rarely change at least im own my own again instead of anywhere with you i think here he's going through a rough patchthe storefronts is co he's kind of wondering the streets and time is going so slowly for him withut her, but he's trying to convince himself he is better off. t this bad affects me like no other band does. makes me want to cry hysterically and laugh at the same time. i cannot actualy explain the love i feel for them. every song hits the target and they are all so real. |
