Oh my the opinions on this page! VC and her piano are like one, it's what really fortifies her album and uniqueness as compared to other artists. However, even though this has a more pop feel, It's one of my favorite tracks because of a possible meaning. Everyone says this song is so "cute", and "lovely" ... but it's actually a bit creepy. I always imagine her expressing about being completely crazy and obsessed with someone, to the point of madness. "Don't you leave me" and "I'll be all right and I'll sleep sound As long as you keep coming 'round." seems like it has a more in depth meaning of a threat than a expression. It's as if he keeps her sanity. I thought that that could be one interpretation, but then I saw the music video ... and it supported my theory. The last 3 seconds of the video show's her lover tied up and held hostage. I still think it's a beautiful song, and one of her more intenser expressions. Just because a song has a pop feel, it doesn't take away the meaning and message written inside. |

It's really too bad it wasn't "She's gonna' love nobody". Even though the song is amazing and has such good meaning, I think the ONLY way it could have been better was if that was the true line, but instead it's "she's got me like nobody". If it had been what you interpreted it to be, I think it would have synced with the song's theme very well. People who wear a "Poker Face" in a relationship usually can't love, or don't know how. So that line would have been awesome, when I first read the correction, I was a bit disappointed. |

So when I first heard this song, I didnt get the "creepy" or "goosebumps" feeling other pople got from her voice (but I do question why they warped her voice so much). I thought it was a nice song and had good melody. THEN I looked at the lyrics .... and the song changed for me, THEN I read the message about why they wrote it, now this song really means something to me and it has such an impact when you listen closely to it, makes you greatful for what you have all of a sudden. Anyway, I may be hearing a repetative line, but at the end of all the versions I've heard the last line sounds like she's saying "yeah when the sun came over me." Has anyone else heard this? or am I hearing another repeated verse? |
