| seems like it's about an ex-girlfriend that he wants to be with but doesn't want to be with at the same time.Like "don't stay away but don't stay here" and how the chorus kind of says the same thing but opposites of each other.So,it seems like he doesn't want to be with her but does at the same time.Then he realizes he can't be with her and screams "she's not coming back" at the end.That's what I got out of it at least.This song is one of my favorites from the antimother.the vocals just sound so cool in it | |

I'm pretty sure this song is about witnessing to people.When he says"it's all in the way I say what I don't mean and mean what I don't" he's saying that he just can't get out what he wants to say.Same with "I'm stumbling right in front of you".Then he says "I need to speak of You and what is real" he's talking about how he needs to talk about God.Then he says "they will never understand what eats at our insides" he means that people don't realize how nervous we are when trying to witness,and how difficult it can be.I can relate to that! I really like the "was it just a dream or something much more?" part.it just sounds cool Anyway,hope that helps -Ice |

To me this song seems like he has a friend and they are both thinking about becoming Christians.His friend wants to "swim in the river" while he wants to "dance in the summer" I think the river symbolizes forgiveness.His friend has always "been the believer" while he's "left to wonder". The water is too deep Our friends say don't go But my mouth betrays me And says hold on ~here his friends are telling them not to become Christians and he listens to them(sadly) I think the chorus is about him being afraid to change his life so drasticly and how his friend is relying on him to much.Then in the sedcond verse it's him telling his friend everythings gonna be alright when he knows it's not.Then I think by the time he says"now I'm here,my bestfriends dying and I'm the one whos still lying" that he's figured out he want's them to get saved.So he says "river wash me clean" and he finally gets saved along with his friend.So,in a nutshell I think it's about him wanting to become a Christian but he's afraid what his family and other friends will think.But,he knows he has to for his friend who is "dying" in some form in the song.He finally gives all the fear up and does it.Sorry if that was confusing,that was my second post on here =) -Ice |

"We shot the video with director Brian Thompson. He was the perfect match for the concept that we came up with and he did an amazing job. It takes place in a broken down future world where the journey of the main character mimics many themes in the song's lyrics. I originally wrote the lyrics describing the certain decay of the world around us. While more and more people pursue meaningless relationships and desire for material things, I've realized that we have "nothing left" in common. We are seperated by our intentions and the visual concept through the video makes an obvious point that we cannot hide these differences."
