Elton John – Amoreena Lyrics 17 years ago
bernie taupin was really preoccupied with the romanticized image of the old west in america. (the beatles demonstrated similar inspiration for some of their music.) "Amoreena" is simply a poem set to elton's gorgeous arrangement that paints a picture of a cowboy perhaps, longing for the woman he's in love with. there's a healthy dose of - tasteful - double entendre: "Oh if only I could nestle in the cradle of your cabin/My arms around your shoulders the windows wide and open." everytime i hear that song i can see the apple juice dripping down that raven-haired, tanned body and think about how nice it must to cuddle up next to her in those eiderdown quilts at night.
