The Killers – Human Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I'm agreeing with some earlier posts, I think this song is about euthanasia... And sometimes I get nervous When I see an open door-----a way out of a vegetative state Close your eyes, clear your heart---let your emotions go Cut the cord----take this individual off life support My sign is vital, my hands are cold-----this person is still "alive" but not living And I'm on my knees looking for the answer-----is this moral? A very real debate in society today Are we human or are we dancer?----are we acting like humans and letting this suffering end or just putting on show because of religion and morality? Pay my respects to grace and virtue Send my condolences to good---------he's cutting the life support because he thinks its right and doesn't care what others think And so long to devotion----maybe a spouse or family member? He's not a "devoted" caretaker It taught me everything I know Wave goodbye, wish me well You've gotta let me go----don't make me "live" this way It's an interesting song that really makes you think....I listened to it quite a few times before I caught onto the lyrics. I haven't purchased Day and Age yet but I get the impression it will be a dark album, both tracks I've listened to (Human and Spaceman) are about death (Euthanasia and Suicide attempts). |
Reba McEntire – Is There Life Out There Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I really like this song because I found myself in the same situation. My boyfriend wanted to get married/have a family and to do that he thought I should drop out of college. I didn't agree and after hearing this song on the way back to school I broke it off with him. I also love the music video Thank You Reba..haha :) |

The Fray – You Found Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
To me some parts of this song could almost be a conversation between God and the singer: I said, “Where you been?” He said, “Ask anything.” (God) Singer: Where were you? When everything was falling apart? All my days Were spent by the telephone It never rang And all I needed was a call It never came To the corner of First and Amistad- (He was looking for God and actively trying to find him when this traumatic experience was starting or happening but he didn’t feel like God was responding or there) Singer: Lost and insecure- (I was alone, hurting, etc. Why did you let me experience this pain?) God: You found me, you found me- (Sometimes it takes really a hard time or bad experience for someone to turn to or “find” God, this is how it happened for me) Singer: Lying on the floor - (He was hurting so badly, a really devastating thing happened to this person) God: Surrounded, surrounded (I was there with you even though you didn’t realize it) Singer: Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? (Why did God let this bad thing happen?) God: Just a little late. You found me, you found me- (This bad thing happened to the singer and he was devastated by it, his faith (if he would have had it then) could have helped him deal with it but, he did eventually find God). God: I've been calling for years and years and years and years- (It may not have been bells and whistles and obvious but, I have been in your life even though you didn’t realize it) Singer: And you never left me no messages. You never send me no letters (Maybe this is while he was trying to decide if there actually was a God…why didn’t you help me?) The last lines of the song really speak to me: Singer: Why'd you have to wait? –(Let me experience this pain?) God: To find me, to find me (Otherwise the singer might not have come to Christ) This kind of reminds of the story about the footprints dream: the guy thinks God abandoned him during the worst times of his life but really God was carrying or “surrounding” him. (For those not familiar with the story: http://www.footprints-inthe-sand.com/index.php?page=Poem/Poem.php) I’ve read the previous posts and realize this is probably not the “real” meaning of the song but, it’s how I choose to view it …sorry if I have annoyed you with my Christian view |
