To me it's about an evil warlord who was imprisonned, escaped and is slowly exacting his revenge by slaughtering countless people and taking control of the world. I could be wrong but thats my interpretation. |

Amazing song. Definitely one of Breaking Wheel's best.
I believe that this song is about a concentration camp prisoner. The "False idols" and "kings" could be referring to the Nazis who took power during a time when Germany was in financial ruin ("Who came to rule through circumstance") and soon after they forced many people into concentration camps where they were forced to work to death. As time goes on, the prisoner begins to lose hope and wants to die. |

I found the Hysteria reference interesting because I read that the Octavarium album was heavily influenced by Muse's Absolution, which has a song called "Hysteria" on it. Not sure if it means anything, though. I just found it interesting. |

I read somewhere that this song is about a guy who steps outside and suddenly discovers that the world is coming to an end, ("A crumbling world stage","Sky above...rings of smoke") kinda like the apocalypse. Everyone on earth is being judged, and the narrator is wondering if its all happening because of something he did ("Was it all for swinging you around?") The beam of light and golden age might be references to the righteous people who are ascending into heaven. |
