I am not sure if anyone noticed but the radio sounding voice in the very beginning of the song after listening to a few times says "If you're sleeping, are you dreaming? If you're dreaming, are you dreaming of me? I can't believe you actually picked me" For the Blue October fans these lines are easily recognizable and come from another of their songs, "Calling You," a song about the strong feeling of love and how lucky he feels to have her. The transition throughout the years appears to have taken a turn for the worst as the feelings in "Calling You" have faded and he realizes she doesn't return the same feelings back. Maybe he has seen that she isn't dreaming about him. He can finally say that she isn't lucky to have him and wants her to move on and leave him behind. It kills him that he is not good enough for her and yet she still feels for him. But loving her as much as he does, he wants her to have the best life possible which may include leaving him. |

He just wants to be with her with no matter what. He wants to be alone with her and his happiest when its that way and knows its the same with her. He realizes that no one else thinks their relationship could be real but he knows that all that matters is that they are both happy. No one else matters. Convincing to forget the past is another part of the song. "Hey, we can hide the bodies on the ride home" Past is the metaphor for the bodies. He feels its better to hide the past and not let it get in anyone way. "We drive To leave the past and clear the mind To watch the sunset at its time I swear you're fine, I'm your ride home" Now it can be taken symbolically or physically. Driving with this girl in his car. Driving to any destination no matter where or even no destination at all is still perfect. Watching sunsets and gazing at a night sky with her is even better. He wants her to know that he is her ride, the one who will guide her the right way. Symbolically driving means the act of moving foward away from the past and into the future. Clearing minds and leaving the past shows that nothing matters except what they feel now and could feel later. Him saying "I'm your ride home" means that he is the right one for her and fate may have led them together and she should go with him no matter what anyone else says. |

The song is about him loving his best friend and her not taking the offer of his heart after she already knows of his love. My words they don't come out right But I'll try to say I'm happy for you It really feels like the singer has experienced what he sings as his voice doesn't even sing in key and his voice seems to crack. It really adds emotion and makes the song all the more powerful to me. |

I agree with musiclife77 that it sounds like Jason Mraz sings it with from experience. His sigh in the beginning of the acoustic version just really says a lot and the emotion he sings it with does as well. The situation he sings about is extremely frustrating and i guess a lot of the times there is nothing you can do without something changing drastically. Also is Mraz sure that even if he tells the girl she will accept him? What if she doesn't feel the same way back and even worse what if she does feel the same way back but doesn't want to ruin something better that she already has going for her and not take that chance or jump to be with this best friend. My situation is of the latter and it hurts even more for some reason. |

He believes it's fate and doesn't understand why is she complicating it any more than it should be. "Open up your mind and see like me Open up your plans and damn you’re free Look into your heart and you’ll find love love love…" Wants her to open up her plans meaning maybe break up with her current boyfriend so she could be with him and even find more love for the singer than anyone. |

In my opinion it pretty much means a guy falls in love with a girl, but the girl doesn't ever give him a chance or maybe is already taken. He wants to forget her. "The plural hurts of the words of reverse psychology that's easier said easier than done" Reverse psychology meaning he is trying to convince himself that he doesn't love her or want anything to do with her yet it hurts so much. "she let me down and doubt came out until the now became later" She may have given him false hope or even loved him but it just couldn't work out in the situation they were put in "And never let me in to spend my quarter " The girl never even gave the guy a chance or may someone already is playing the symbolic "game" with her meaning she is already with someone. Yet this game never ended and they ended up being together forever not giving the singer a chance ever to be with this girl. "that i'm crazy like the rest of us and i'm crazier when i'm next to her" He just cant take being near her, its taunting and tempting and knowing that it wont happen makes it that much worse. "please don't dare tell her what i've become please don't mention all the attention i have drawn please don't bother cause she'll feel guilty when i'm gone " Finally the guy doesn't want the girl to feel bad for letting him down on such grand of a scale. He has become a heart-broken and love-sick and may not return to normal or is trying as hard as he can in just being apathetic. |
