Cold War Kids – Audience Lyrics 16 years ago
i love this song. the sound reminds me of "tempted" by squeeze a little bit.
i think its about being in love/obsessed with someone you cant have- youre playing for an audience of one, i.e. everything you do is to try to impress that person, youre only playing for them...
"he will drive all over three lanes while you ride shot gun/windshield wipers waving for an audience of one" while "he" is driving, the implied girl is sitting there, in love and obsessed with him, and the windshield wipers line represents how everything to her revolves around him.
"one gets all of you, twos jealous, three gets even less, four divides you up, then youre left pleasing all your guests" - as in the "one" person gets all of you, while everyone else never really gets your heart or your attention.
just my interpretation....

Immortal Technique – Dance With The Devil Lyrics 17 years ago
my brother and i are both huge IT fans.... my brother went to one of his shows this past summer and met him and asked if this song was based on a true story or not. IT's response was that "its based on the the things that happen to real people in real life everyday" so basically, WeedBeliever is right. its not literally williams mother.... william is a representation of every person that gets caught up in something that is bad for them and the idea of him raping his own mother is just a symbolic way of showing how he realizes what he has become. its his mother and everyone's mother, and the loss of his dignity.

Third Eye Blind – The Background Lyrics 17 years ago
i think this song is about how he feels its HIS fault shes in the hospital- "i dont see you anymore... since the hospital" like he's saying that he is made to stay away since she has been in there.
also, i feel like when they were together it was not a very solid relationship and they had a lot of problems- "they say where's that crazy girl you dont get drunk on red wine and fight no more" basically describing how they would fight a lot, and even in public so that it was well known by others.
"the plans i make still have you in them/then you come swimming into view"- hes saying how he goes about his daily life and makes plans as if she was still there and then her memory comes into his mind and he feels guilty about her being in the hospital and misses her and wishes they could have made things right before.
"i carry you around, in the background" talking about how he carries his guilt and his feelings for her still in the background of his life.

Christina Aguilera – Cruz Lyrics 17 years ago
this song is about christina breaking a lot of ties with people who produced her first album and basically controlled her life before stripped... she wasnt allowed to have any creative freedom on that album and she had to fight to get her way on this one... its also about her being able to write and reflect about her childhood and past and release it on this album and being able to separate the good from the bad memories and move on peacefully

Kelly Clarkson – Just Missed The Train Lyrics 17 years ago
i dont think its about breaking up at all. this is clearly about a guy she knew that was a good friend that she was in love with.

first verse: "roll over baby/the time has come/to make a little bit more room/i’ve hung around you" shes saying how she was always with him, always around and always the friend, and he never "made more room" for them to become more than friends... "its getting tough/i think im gonna break down soon" she cant stand it anymore, she needs to have him as more than her friend. also, she feels that everything else in her life is "getting tough" as well, which leads into the next line, "i remember crying in the park/it was getting dark" shes crying over him, over her "dark" life. "suddenly i looked up/you were my sky" when she thought things couldnt get any worse, he was there to rescue her, she finally thought he recognized her as a lover and not just a friend.

then the chorus: "so go on and sleep darling/why dont you pretend we were just a dream/it's cool baby/doesnt matter anyway" she realizes he ISNT thinking of her as more of a friend... basically saying go back to sleep, go back to the way things were... then sarcastically saying to pretend all her feelings and friendship meant nothing. "im so sorry/got to the station a little too late/such a shame/just missed the train" shes "sorry" she wasnt enough to be his lover, she just missed the train and the qualifications of being his girlfriend.

second verse: "be quite anglel/dont make a sound/save it for a rainy day/" she doesnt want to hear anymore about he values her so much as a friend, the sting of it might kill her. "oh cant you see me/im such a mess/trying hard to find my way" he cant see how much he has hurt her by doing nothing and not loving her how she loves him. "you remember wasting all the time/we were feeling fine/we couldnt walk the line/we were alright" shes referring to when things were simpler between them, when their friendship was easy and she didnt have to worry about "walking the line" between friends and lovers, and they were alright.

last verse: "why'd that train just pass us by/didnt anyone see we were so damn in love/and we would've made it on time" shes wondering if she was the only one who saw a potential love and relationship there, wondering how he or no one else ever saw it, and wondering how and why they never made it on the "train" of being in love.

thats my interpretation of it anyway. love this song =]

John Mayer – Victoria Lyrics 17 years ago
the lyrics is definitely "mentioned something about how you were right" and not "how you arrived" and its a key point in the song, because, in my opinion tori is getting out of a relationship that was bad for her and maybe didnt make her feel all to good about herself. so the "how you were right" is possibly referring to how in one of her moments of self doubt she feels that her boyfriend was maybe right about her or her flaws or a failing aspect of the relationship. also, tori never actually "breaks up" with this person, she just leaves, and makes john/the narrator the bearer of bad news for this boyfriend. the suitcase in the back window is definitely a symbol of her not being able to look back at where she's leaving.
the final verse "dont look down, she seemed alright" is john/the narrator's way of assuring this boyfriend that her mental state is okay and that she was sure of her decision. and "you might be asking, where is tori tonight? somewhere out on the highway, i'm sure she's alright" i think is a reference to suicide... going along with the idea that tori has self doubt and confidence issues-- johns just trying to ease the boyfriends guilt
