Ween – Chocolate Town Lyrics 16 years ago
Woah. Definitely don't think its about taking a shit.
Okay. So I think its more about buying drugs from a black guy in the hood.

But I think the buyer knows that he shouldn't be buying drugs, hence all the references to his mother and not being able to keep a secret. And the overall tone of the song especially at the beginning of the song (because of the lyrics) is negative: repeating "couldn't" and "wouldn't" and insinuating he can't control what is going on. I think it is the progression of his thought process, from when he is buying the drugs, to being under the influence, you know?
Like the first stanza talks about how he doesn't really know what he's doing, he's tired of the life thats wasting
Then the next part talks about secrets and letting people down (the mother)
Then "Makin' time breakin' ground" he just gives up and goes to chocolate town to buy drugs, and then later he talks about the "sunny bunny feeling" meaning the high, obviously.

Thats just my opinion. definitely not butt sex with his mom.

Belle & Sebastian – Nothing in the Silence Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is beautiful! The music espeicially right before the "Allow me then a little time
To listen to their voices" stanza.
a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

I love it. I think its about a girl who tells the truth and who is honest, and someone who is not honest, and not really a good person
"She talks of clarity and silence
Of beauty and of truth
But search her heart for evidence,
Search her soul for proof"
Because "she" does not know of silence, whereas the speaker knows silence and understands silence, and understands beauty and truth, and even though the "she" character talks of clarity and truth, its only talk, and the speaker's silence is the real proof that the speaker is the a good honest person.

I love it. I can't believe it only has one comment!

Elliott Smith – Half Right Lyrics 17 years ago
okay...no one has mentioned the guitar in this song...

it is beautiful, very simple, but i love it. towards the end it gets lower during the "And it won't last" part which makes it just so sad and makes your heart like feel it. i don't know if that makes sense. Maybe just pay attention to that part yourself, i can't descibe it right.

All of elliott smith's songs are just so personal to him, it is sort of sad that they are all so open for everyone to listen to and interpret.

Iron & Wine – The Devil Never Sleeps Lyrics 17 years ago
Wow all the iron and wine lyrics are amazing.

I interpreted this song to be about how there is so much going on in our world, but "everyone bitching theres nothing on the radio" Like we are all focusing on the wrong things. There is a war, and kids saying things like "you're dad's not coming home" the mom in the flowerbed, and she seems very upset and distracted and I didn't think she was dead, i think it was more about how she is in her flowerbed while the kids are out and possibly getting into trouble because she has kind of lost all hope.

I think the "No one on the corner had a quarter for the telephone" thing is about how no one helps each other out anymore, and then it kind of continues to paint a picture of a family that is falling apart with the father away, the mother distracted in the flowerbed and the kid out getting into trouble and no one doing anything just giving up with because “No one lives forever and the devil never sleeps alone”

Iron & Wine – Carousel Lyrics 17 years ago
This song and all the references and poetry is absolutely beautiful. I have had iron and wine music for a while, but never really listened to the lyrics and thought about what they were trying to say. The songs are amazing and so eloquent.

Iron & Wine – Love and Some Verses Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is so pretty! I definitely think it is about someone who is insecure and trying figuring out who she is, and the guy is going to stay with her until she figures it out, and he will be a part of her, almost complementing her and completing her? i hope that makes sense.
