Holy crap - this is my life right now - does this guy know me?, is he stalking me? - it's almost scray. I heard this song on the radio a few weeks ago and the tune caught my ear but I never listened to the lyrics closely until just now...OMG!!

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals – Ah, Mary Lyrics	17 years ago
OK now I get it - thought the song was about a girl who seems friendly and harmless on the outside but is really deceptive and power-hungry on the inside. But the whole thing is really a metaphor for American politics = Ah Mary - America = clever. Meaning aside, this song rocks and needs more attention. She reminds me a little of Sheryl Crow but a little edgier, at least in the song.

Sam Roberts – Detroit '67 Lyrics

More people in the USA need to discover Sam Roberts - a great talent from Montreal. I believe this CD is finally going to be released stateside in February 09. Saw him perform this song live on the banks of the Detroit River from the Canadian side and he gave a shoutout to the Motor City. I'm not sure Sam was even alive in the era he is singing about, and I was just a baby, but growing up in the shadow of Motown we have all watched the demise of once great city since the Race Riots of the 60's. Sam captures the heartbeat of Detroit in it's prime and sadly it seems it is an energy that may never be seen again.

Powerful song - amazing vocals. I think this song is about finally moving on in life and going after something you always wanted to do but never had the guts to do until now - and knowing you'll come back a better person for at least trying instead of stagnating. Shinedown is fast becoming one of favorite bands from this decade!

Beck – Bottle Of Blues Lyrics	17 years ago
I heard a couple guys play this song in a bar one night and instantly couldn't get it out of my head. What a great song, Beck is so complex it could be just about anything, however, I read somewhere that the song was about impotence. When you think about it, yeah, the entire song could be a metaphor for that - "like a tired soldier with nothing to shoot".
