| Born In The Flood – If This Thing Should Spill Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I don't see how not a single one of these songs has a comment. The entire album is just so amazing! I love it. This is my favorite song, and I've never thought much on what it meant, but if I had to guess, the thing that is spilling would be the conflict of the world. Basically he's asking for peace, and then asks, "If everything doesn't go well, will the conflict consume us all?" Born in the Flood has a really hard to understand meaning in their lyrics, but nonetheless a sweet sound. |

| Ugly Casanova – Spilled Milk Factory Lyrics | 16 years ago |

It's not about meth. It's about coke I'm pretty sure. But not just about coke, it's about a coke-fiend and his inability to accept commitment. He detests marriage and having children and the like. |

| By the way forgive the horrid spelling, I've been up far longer than 24 hours now and my hands have gotten somewhat sluggish. | |

Of course everyone should create their own meaning to songs they love, but since I'm hear I may as well state my theory. I beleive the opening lines: "giants in the ocean boundless water in an eternity frame of mind and all thats lost is our time peaks break through open sky that grasps for land below mountains climb and topple on themselves. steel breaks wave and sounds lull us to sleep all things drift quietly away forget your cell phone man, it won't work here" Capture the setting of the song, an Alaskan Cruise, the first part deals with the ship leaving his home, until all he can see are the peaks of the mountains he knows. He goes into detail about how serene it is, and then shows that man hasn't reached that wilderness yet with the cell phone comment. But on this cruise is an intimate who's relationship with him is slowly deteriorating. "my cameras zoom - it captures all that might embrace it" this sentence shows that the pictures he's taking of the scenery, may encite feelings in him, He goes on the say, "unsteadied ice creats a wake in deeper places" meaning, the rotting relationship affects other aspects of his life, perhaps school or work. He proceeds to say he's sorry for whatever he's done to make things the way they are, and that things will get better soon. The next paragraph makes me think she rejected him. Because of this he resorts to different methods, he seems to show her a picture, perhaps of better times between the two, "there is substance in this silence" This is him telling her that a picture is worth a thousand words, "the proof of what surrounds us." Meaning that he realized this all from a photo, "photographs are a mirror image" Essentially saying, pictures never lie. "look deep and see yourself in them." Look how happy you were then, look beneath it all to see how glorious you really felt. "seasickness, ancient forests, and water creatures keep us from thinking about home" This last part means that she didn't give in, she was too caught up in the nonsense of the cruise to listen to what he had to say. |
