| i love how Candlemas gives such a one-sided interpretation when it's obvious that slug purposely makes his songs ambiguous so that multiple interpretations can be made and make sense. i think of it as a depressed alcoholic with nobody left but his house. maybe somebody who chose money over love or family and now only has the alcohol to "mother the pain." | |

i think the meaning of this song is pretty obvious. maybe others haven't considered slug to be the best father and this is just a more extreme example of how a good father and a good person can be two different things. but i'm sure he's a great dad AND a great person :D |
