There's several references to music/lyrics throughout -- I imagine there's plenty more I'm missing, considering "Music Was Saved" sounds like a fairly meta title.
"Riding up to heaven" seems like an obtuse reference to "Stairway to Heaven"; "Wired up to eleven" is an obvious Spinal Tap ref; "the rushes were made" I don't know, maybe a ref to the band Rush; "they came with a bang but they're out with a whimper for now" from T.S. Eliot's "The Hollow Men"... anything else? |

I prefer the official version--just, and mostly for the intro--but the demo has a better line: "You think you've felt the lifting". I love the final verse in both. |
