Nearly every site that has lyrics for this track is incorrect. He does NOT say: "And every fool Will see his madness drowned" He says, "And every fool will see his madness CROWNED" That is the entrie point of the song, that there is no justice in life. People do not treasure the truth or honesty, it is the madmen and manipulators who get ahead, thereby seeing their madness crowned. It is only the truth that gets "drowned". Also at the end of the first stanza he says "I dig the giving ground". In the chorus it is "trust" not "choice" that lies broken. Later it is "flight" not "fright". "Now I know you cannot be all that your FLIGHT has been". He is questioning the person's path and judging their socalled success because of how they got there. He held the line with integrity assuming that he would one day succeed on merit (I stood but you could not wait), but the person to whom he is speaking took the shortcut of untruth. The song is about truth and how modern people prize material success and power ahead of truth. The thing that has been lost and can never be found is integrity, trust or truth itself. Logic and reason fail in the face of lies and distortion. In a world of swirling noise and constant deception it becomes impossible to hear the truth. I would also note in general that these are the lyrics to the extended version which skips key words. For example, in this version he says "I watch... surrender" while the original provides the entire "I watch as you surrender". |

Anyway I'd love to see what you all recommend as similar dark electronic songs. I love this whole sound and always have. Here's one I doubt anyone has heard: Cyberaktif - Nothing Stays |

The song is definitely dark enough to match the scene. They compliment one another. Regarding Psyche, they are a German electro/industrial/synthpop band who writes similar songs themselves. Covering this was a naturla fit for them.I still like the original better myself, but theirs is fantastic as well. There is lots of Goth and synthpop that is actually positive despite the preconceived notion to the contrary. This song fits perfectly into goth, industrial or general underground electronic mindset where most of the artists are actually quite positive but the surface level darkness is merely a rejection of transparent falseness of mainstream music which to emotionally intense people is quite depressing. |

[Ralphie - "it's just too bad the whole world knows it from such a dark scene"] Why? It's a great scene regardless. The song is definitely dark enough to match. They compliment one another. Your comment should be that it's too bad the world can't appreciate the beauty of many dark things. Regarding Psyche, they are a German electro/industrial/synthpop band who writes similar songs themselves. Covering this was a naturla fit for them.I still like the original better myself, but theirs is fantastic as well. [Ralphie - "Maybe the song is actually really positive despite the gothic, eerie tune." Maybe lots of Goth and synthpop is actually positive despite your apparaent preconceived notion to the contrary. This song fits perfectly into goth, industrial or general underground electronic mindset where most of the artists are actually quite positive but the surface level darkness is merely a rejection of transparent falseness of mainstream music which to emotionally intense people is quite depressing. |
