Great song. Personally, it sounds like a person is going through some very low, depressing times, and as the song goes on (at about the 2:00 mark) the person decides that they've had enough and will not tolerate anymore b.s. that comes into their life. At the 3:00 mark they are courageously making their way through the tough times. In the last couple minutes (from 4:00 until the end) they are so high on life because things are finally looking up for them again. That's what I think it means. But maybe it's just my current situation I'm describing ha. My life is just approaching the "3 minute mark". |

I think that he's just talking about how he's never had much support from his family to chase his true dreams and goals (being in a band). He's getting ready to put his past behind him, move away from home, and fulfill his dreams. I'm hooked on this song. It gives me such a rush that I should always do what I want to do in life and not listen to other people shooting down my goals or plans. |

That's a good interpretation Worldslayer, I agree completely. *Also your last line is so true in so many ways* I also think that in the chorus the lyrics talk about how guys and girls can forget about a bad day by hanging out with their friends. "Suit up boys, LET'S ride it's the weekend" - If a guy is having a bad day sometimes he just needs to cruise with his buddies. (Well I do anyways) "Get down girls, and dance with your best friends" - Pretty sure all girls love to dance with their friends at a club or party |

for those of you that think it has to do with him being treated for cancer, etc. that's wrong because the day that he finished recording the final track (2 months before release date), he was diagnosed with leukemia. my take on the song is that he broke up with his girlfriend, and his friends are helping him through it. the part of the meaning that is a "la la lie" is the fact that even though he says his friends are helping him through the tough times, he is still in love with her. therefore, he is gonna take some time to himself and in a couple months he'll apologize to her and they'll get back together: "I'm comin back to my girl by July" |

| i think that the sunshine represents the girl that he just broke up with. he feels that he either sees or thinks of her everyday, just like the sun is present everyday. the rest is pretty self explanatory, he is depressed that they broke up but knows that its for the best | |

i know that many ppl think this song is about a relationship or a breakup. but the meaning of this song totally changed for me yesterday. i found out that a friend of mine who i'd known for my whole life had died in a car accident. then they played this song last night at the bar after new years, and it just reminded me of how awesome of a guy he was and how we can't take life for granted. "I can't remember all the times I tried to tell my myself To hold on to these moments as they pass" that line really hits home for me and who just like that everything can be changed forever |
