No one has commented on this song?! Such a shame. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard! I think it's about someone who's always there for you, be it a family member, a great friend or a lover. And near the end, it just seems that much more important of a relationship because the person who is being the daylight, is afraid of the dark. I believe only love can conquer a fear like that. |

It may just be me, but I hear "I could have treated you better, better than this,
while I'm gone, this song's your letter" and I think it might have something to do with someone in the military or any service position, having to leave and not wanting to leave a loved one behind. Knowing that the moment your spending with someone you love, may be the last, causes you to second guess all of your behaviors and take in every little detail. Joshua Radin's songs are so sweet and caring which makes it hard for me to believe that he'd sleep in the same bed with someone he planned on leaving in the middle of the night. Oh and just something to think about, he also says he can't stay in one place, which again, brings the military to mind. |
