| After Forever – Victim Of Choices Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It's still a part of the concept. The girl spies on her parents as they get a visit from the mother of the father, child's grandmother. She warns the father about the choices he makes and it's apparent that she was very bad to HIM when he was a child. The girl starts to understand a pattern the invisible circl. | |

| After Forever – Blind Pain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The child is growing older and her father keeps beating her, but she can see how his abuse is a sign of weakness and she finds him pathetic. But she also sees how her mother don't do anything. | |
| After Forever – Eccentric Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It COULD be her parents, but I think it's kids. Because most kids don't realise how much words can hurt (I would know) and her parents showed open contempt for her and the description does not fit for parents. Anway, this is my favourite After Forever ballad. Even better than Intrinsic! |

| After Forever – Sins of Idealism Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
There are three characters from the story. Floor/child This si when she sings with her ''rock'' voice. She wants to be loved and don't understand why they don't care about her. Floor/mother This is when she used her ''operatic'' vocals. Things didn't work out the way she planned. She wants her beauty and life back, but it trapped with a child. Sander/fathers He says that will leave them if they stand in the way of his career. |

| After Forever – Between Love and Fire Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
The parents are proud. They have worked hard to get their career, but things aren't to well in the relationship. But then she gets pregnant, and both of the discuss wether the baby will bring them together or if it will destroy their lives. So they have to make a choice between love(the baby) and fire(their careers) hence the title. |

| After Forever – Beautiful Emptiness Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I agree. It seems to be the end of the story, and she kills her parents because she believes she will finally be happy without them. The whole song is in her prespective. |

| After Forever – Transitory Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It compairs life to a china, it's beautiful, but it can easily crack and then it's gone. Although the song seems negative, I find it to be encouraging. You SHOULD live life, because it won't last forever! | |
| After Forever – Evoke Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It's about energy in the natural world. We are surrounded by it, but most of us don't realise it. A very powerfull performance and the choir part sounds really grand and epic. The break-down reminds me of Come on the previous album, but this song is so much more powerfull. | |
| After Forever – The Evil That Men Do Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
The title of the song, as well as the chorus, is inspired by a part in Shakespare's 'Julius Cæsar' where Markus Antonius says: ''Friends, Romans, country men, lend me your ears; I come to bury Cæsar, not to praise him. The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones; so let it be with Cæsar.'' I don't think it has anything to do with the song, but it's interesting to note. |

| After Forever – Beyond Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
As usual , the lyrics are very poetic in nature, which makes correct interpetaions very difficult. But that also makes in interesting, because we get so many views! Oh well, here's my (long) interpetation: The first verse (the duet between Floor Jansen and Sharon den Adel) is from the point-of-view of a person who feels like he/she is being watched, even thought he/she know that he's/she's alone. In the chorus the person speaks directly to that ''thing'' and asks to be left alone. The grunts are from the point-of-view of the ''phantom''. He knows he is following someone and driving him/her mad, but he continues because he is lonely and can't remember how it feels to be in touch with another being. Whether this ''creature'' actually exists or exists just in the character's head depends how literal you take the song. The screaming parts is the climax. I'm not sure wether it's from the point-of-view of the main character or the creature. It's certantly about loosing contact with reality and being on the brink of complete breakdown. If you take the lyrics literally, it's about a phantom stalking a scared person. But on a more poetic note you can see that it's about how even though most people live in huge cities, most people live alone. |

| After Forever – Cry with a Smile Lyrics | 16 years ago |

^ I agree It's definately about being confused about your emotion. You're happy, yet sad. The chorus seems to imply that it's about someone dying. |
|
| After Forever – Ex Cathedra Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The subtitle of this song is ''Ouverture'' which simply means ''intro'' to a orchestral piece. I don't think the lyrics are relevant to any of the other songs. | |
| After Forever – Monolith Of Doubt Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I believe you are right. At first I didn't know what the hell it was about, because it uses alot of sophisticated words that I've never heard of (I'm from norway), but I researched the words and it seems to be about facing your mirror. I also think it's about a woman finally realizing that she is getting older. |
|
| Epica – Sancta Terra Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| the Divine Conspiracy is a concept album. According to Mark it is about the main character in heaven after being killed in Sageguard to Paradise. | |
| After Forever – The Key Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
It's about judgement. Floor: the one being judged. Mark/Sander: the judge(s) The song is quite poetic, so it could be someone being judged in Heaven, or it could simply be American Itold (;D), but I doubt that this refers to any specific situation, |

| Epica – Menace of Vanity Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
The lyrics are SO wrong. Here is the correct ones. Source (CD Booklet) Compulsive expressions of your social weakness Vented on your countless made-up enemies I cannot know how you feel When you don't say anything CHORUS We don't care what you say We'll n never join the games you play We won't bleed for all your sins We never followed your ways, so We don't care anymorw How you perform your last encore Your misplaced sense of superiority The result of your unbearable form of vanity I cannot know what you see When you don't show anything CHORUS I cannot know how you feel When you don't tell anything I cannot now know what you see When you don't show anything CHORUS |
|
| Epica – Chasing The Dragon Lyrics | 16 years ago |

| After Forever – My Pledge Of Allegiance #2 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
'My Pledge of Allegiance' tells a very sad story about a muslim woman being killed by her husband. Part I, this describes the character and she writes the letter telling him that she is leaving. Part II, this is more descriptive as it describes in detail how she is about to leave, but then he shows up and pushes her inside, reads the letter and kills her to save his honor. Controversial subject indeed... |

| After Forever – Black Tomb Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
A very good song, although it took a while to grow on me. My favourite parts are the main-riff and the arabic feel during the instrumental section and Mark and Sander sounds really scary here. It seems to be about a bad power being awakened after being defeated once before. It could be political, religious or basically anything... |
|
| Epica – Hunab K'u (A New Age Dawns, Prologue) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's really different from the other intros (Adyta and Indigo). The other ones were dark and scary, but this sounds like a movie score. Pretty cool! | |
| Epica – Consign to Oblivion (A New Age Dawns, Part III) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is their best song. I will say no more. | |
| Iron Maiden – Virus Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is very poetic in nature, so it can mean almost anything. Politics, religion, society, relationships, you name it. But the inspiration for the song was all the bad reviews The X Factor was getting, and how the band felt angry and wanted to expose journalists and the media for what they really are. A virus can't live without a host, and journalists can't make money without someone talented and different to destroy. |

| Iron Maiden – Look For The Truth Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This is one of the few songs that the lyrics make the song perfect. Just listen to the words: ''In the house of my soul In rooms of ugliness and cold'' It's BRILLIANT! The lyrics are SO SHARP! |
|
| Iron Maiden – Lord of Light Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
''Lucifer'' literally means ''the Light-Bringer''. It was a word that was used on Venus, and was a name of hope, wamrth and light. However, during the Middle-Ages, the Catholic Church made all pegan, heathen and folk religions ''satanism'' in order to control the people. Just a fun fact^ Great song anway, a classic Maiden-Gallop! |

| Epica – Safeguard to Paradise Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
At first, I didn't know what the hell this song was about. It seemed to be a sad ballade of some sort... But then I noticed these lyrics ''Many virgins wait for him to come''. And after that, everything came into place. I explain now: This song is about a suicide bomber, most likely a muslim extremist. I don't know very much about Islam, but I know that suicide bombers are being promised a place in paradise with seven virgins for eternity if he kills enemies of Islam. Just read through the lyrics with that interpetarion in mind, you'll see it fits pretty good. ''No one seems to realise that wolves are in disguise'' Anyway, it's a lovely song with a sad and heavy mood. |
