The dreaming tide may be a reference to the power of lucid dreaming and its effect on the perception of many of its practitioners. Within a lucid dream, the power to create or destroy with impunity and omnipotence is only impeded by the dreamer's will to do so. Other songs by Scar Symmetry, such as "Dreaming 24/7" and "Holographic Universe" tap into this theme, so it's not surprising to hear another song that revolves around a similar notion. To someone who's existentially 'free' the fear of divine punishment is a null issue, so pretending to be God in the playground of dreams becomes a liberating and exhilarating experience. I do it, so I can say this from experience. :) |

I absolutely agree with minus_zer0. One listen is all it takes to understand that this song is Jesus Christ speaking as though he's become disillusioned with his divinity and wants to communicate the message that the only strength that matters is the strength within each of us. "I will place no gods higher than myself." That's the idea here, and it's as clear as glass. |
