"Walk in silence Don't walk away, in silence See the danger Always danger Endless talking Life rebuilding Don't walk away" To me the first verse has something to do with Ian's obsession of dying like a rockstar. Although he lives this simple life, walking in silence, he does not want to die that simple. Hence, he kills himself. As so many else has said, the life of others overwhelms him. However, the "walk away"-thing changes after the first verse. Instead it becomes a cry for help, almost like saying "don't leave me" when he is about to die. At least that's how I see it, one of my absolute favourite songs ever. Ian Curtis was a genius. |
