| to clarify the last point up, the seeming lack of reason is because he is fueled by faith and not reason, and what i meant to put in the first part, second line's explanation is that since God is so great, seemingly all reason leaves one in the presence of absolute obsessive faith | |

okay, to the defense of laurim, sky explosion, when it says that... Your touch, your ways Leave me dumb without reson Your love, my cage My prison so pleasing I spend my days tangled in thoughts of you Stuck in this place, resigned to be your fool i am pretty sure its actually Christian lyrics here, but because you don't think so, allow me to break it down for ya ;) "Your touch, your ways Leave me dumb without reason" obviously, God is so great that His touch (metaphorically speaking) and His ways (love) leaves him dumbstruck without reason, now the without reason means that there is no reason why God should love him to do what He did, but he does, so therefore, he is left dumbstruck in aw, and all reason and rationall in the love God has, does not make sense to him (sense none of us can fully grasp nor understand God's love for us) "Your love, my cage My prison so pleasing I spend my days tangled in thoughts of you Stuck in this place, resigned to be your fool" Okay since he is God's, that means that nobody can pluck him out of God's hand, "Your love, my cage" he is trapped, even if he wants out, even if he didnt want to be a Christian anymore, hes eternally sealed, (he's in a cage) but he DOES want to be there, he is thankful that he has no choice in whether or not God loves him. "I spend my days tangled in thoughts of you" well that's what it says, ill take that one at face value, he's tangled in thoughts of God, thats part of the cage and prison, that happens, especially when you set forth disciplines that allow time for God. "Stuck in this place, resigned to be your fool" as harsh as a term that is used here, i am willing to see "fool" as a humble term and not derogatory towards God. what John is saying is that God is so great that he, as a human is a fool, one who doesnt understand the love of God completely, but that is okay because he is God's. when john says stuck, he is refering to the metaphorical cage of God's love and will, well when you're infatuated and obsessed you tend to go a little loopy and foolish abit (foolish and loopy in the world's eyes) but what he does, he does by faith, and not by reason.... *note* connect the seemingly lack of reason here to the "without reason" in the second line, you should be starting to pick this up a lil bit now, if not, it can be a bit of a stretch in some ways, but not all too much |

| okay, first off, i wouldn't exactly call it a sellout song.... more of a reachout song, but it did seem a little too off from the Christian spectrum that with Comatose, Skillet went more gospel type of rock along with contemporary. secondly, why do you think that they left the lyrics as they are? is it such a mystery that would make Christians ask questions about the songs, or does it have certain words and lines pertaining to spiritual events that make those who are non Christian to ask questions and research it? provokation in the right way is extremely useful, especially in leading people to Christ, but also this is where alot of problems arise, so, with Comatose, the follow-up album, they made it more gospel to get the message to those wondering non Christian fans. see? set the fanbase, then feed them the message, good strategy, afterall what they are doing is considered ministry..... | |
