I guess her songs ARE pretty vague, but it looks like everyone's got a common understanding of what the songs about... so perhaps not so vague? anyway, I agree with the whole loneliness/jealousy issue, but I can relate this song more to my dad being away overseas... "Well I try so hard not to notice I try so hard not to care I try so hard not to know that you're not here" It might just be the the type of person that I am that makes me feel the way she's describing, but I guess it's a good enough way to deal with being apart from someone you care about. @nemu, My idea for the reasoning behind the name of the song is that maybe, like she says, she's trying so hard not to care and to show this side of her, so giving it a simple, straightforward, and more or less surface title is a reflection of her not wanting to draw so much attention to the real issues she's dealing with. Even though it's her song and it's a personal thing, there's a level of control she has over what she reveals, and what she really is meaning to say. |
