im not by any means an expert and do not insist that my interpretation of this song is in any way correct, especially since everyone listens to a pick music apart differently... but if i were to give my version, i would say that this song is about addiction... "All I knew and all I believed are crumbling images that no longer comfort me. I scramble to reach higher ground, some order and sanity, or something to comfort me. So I take what is mine, and hold what is mine, suffocate what is mine, and bury what's mine." to me this part of the song means that you have things that re important to you but with the addiction you slowly lose grasp of everything that was once close to you... As for the rest of the song, i feel as though maynard is talking about trying to get help but you keep getting pulled back under... again... this is just my interpretation...as a huge tool fan.. |
