hmm... i think the mid east is a stretch. the references work but that wouldn't fit in with the style of the album i think. this is your life is a reference to how much it sucks to live on the street and dustland fairy tale is similar, more white trash and such, so it's just not in the vein of the album i think. political, perhaps, outside of america, i think not. sams town was about vegas so i think this is another american commentary. i think the suicide and anti fame themes are more applicable. but that may just be me. |

with respect, i think you're dead wrong. this album is incredibly mature. the lyrics are so obviously metaphorical. which is what makes this mature, the fact that he can write metaphorically unlike 80 percent of other bands. songs like "this is your life" prove it. that song is deep. you can't deny that. which proves that flowers knows what he's doing. hi's lyrics are better with every album. as is the music. |

lets be nice... maybe he was born a loser destined to say that about one of the ONLY original bands i've ever heard. and i've heard a fair bit. first off she can actually sing unlike several "happy-go-lucky girl bands". and her name is kick ass. rachel minton. totally fits the sound. |

oh wow. this song is so incredible. at surface value it's about regretting a breakup. and maybe there's nothing much deeper. but it's such a sad, regretful song. i can relate about 1000%. |

sounds like it could be about a bunch of people living in a city where no one goes any where and they just get dragged down after a while. "everyone buried in wasteland" and "we're dead in this ghost town". and perhaps the younger generation is trying to break a cycle of some sort. "all the boys shout it out loud now, all the girls scream it out louder, we don't want to, we don't have to live like that". or maybe the singer is trying to warn people not to stay before it's too late. "you better let go, so let go, let go of me". or maybe he's telling the people draggin him down to let him go so he can get out because he's "dead". but those are just ideas. |

this song is so amazing. probably my second fav on the album. i like the teenager interpretation, though i think its about a significant other. its like he wants to go out with her and do anything and everything and make it the most memorable thing he can and not care what his parents or anyone else for that matter thinks. |

hmm... i don't know about the eleven minutes but i love how bitter he sounds. especially when he says "you're sick sick" i think this song would be about someone who acts normal and everything but subtle things he does hurt and damage other people. either him or the person he's talking to since he refers to both. |

im thinking it's about two people and they love each other and all that and one of them has to go, perhaps here since it says "you'll be standing on the shore" like shes coming back to him. so they're away from each other and they still love each other but the distance (10,000 miles apart) makes it a bit harder to remember (a frozen ocean joins our hearts) so its like their feelings are frozen, still there but muted and numbed by the distance, but it sounds like they remember each other quite well enough to wait for the separation to end so they can be together again and happy and all that. |
