i agree with smoothrider41 one, jayemel is an idiot two, the accent bit, its not necessarily talking about a literal accent, but that hes talking to people as if indentifying with them when in actual fact he couldn't be farther removed. All of the interpretations are loosely connected in some way anyway so you couldnt be more wrong when saying all the interpretations arent equally valid. |

| The Maccabees – Bicycles Lyrics | 17 years ago |

i think its that everyone nowadays is so pararnoid about everything. things are so unpredictable (first verse) meaning that no one trusts anything anymore: "cause no one likes what they're not" maybe the paranoia stems from the bombing, but i think now its just become second nature for people not to trust anyone anymore because of society in general. the first time it says stop the monster not spot but i dont know why and im pretty sure it does say trainspotter ooooooh, thats the best bit :) |

| The Maccabees – Mary Dress Super Hero Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| and i think its "heard you fell down" not hold yourself down, and "so hold me down, I'll let you know, about the places we can't go" | |
| The Maccabees – Mary Dress Super Hero Lyrics | 17 years ago |

If im judging this by the first verse, this might seem really wrong. but to me it sounds like a song about a prostitute. Maybe this guy was using a prostitute or maybe the prostitute was a member of the family, like a sister or something. "The places we cant go" because people know her there as a prostitute. or maybe the brother is using a prostitute - "Mary," and his brother is trying to protect him because hes got himself into a hole, but he cant do much to help him because he lives so far away. Maybe the guy in the song is a younger brother he feels responsible for but now cant do much to help him. He tries to use money to help him, reflecting the money his brother has wasted on "Mary". I think the brother needs help and sees mary as a super hero to help him out of the hole, but Mary is dressed in "leather and laces" rather than "masks and lycra" that real heroes wear. he seems deluded and reall needs help which his brother is trying to give this may be really wrong and completely nothing to do with a grandmother, i reckon this song could go in many directions |

| The Maccabees – The Real Thing Lyrics | 17 years ago |

just because youre beautiful "my chin would hit the floor..." doesnt mean this is "the real thing". i think "it" is the quality that makes you want to be with this person forever, and makes you miss them when you cant see them, and makes you think about them all the time, and makes you feel all warm inside (: just being beautiful and superficial isnt the real thing. and i dont care how long it will take, but ill wait for the real thing thank you :) ahhhh i love this song so much definitely inspired by the bugsy malone song, it sounds just like it but i like how the lead singer makes it sound quite sad and nostalgic, hes amazing! |

| Laura Marling – Ghosts Lyrics | 17 years ago |

isnt it just that when you start a new relationship with someone, "past lovers" will always affect you and how you treat others in new relationships, like how you never forget your first love. You never really forget past lovers and if youve been hurt in the past, you are wary of others coming into your life. This all sounds so lame but its true. also i love this song so much i could listen to it all day. The line "its not like i believe in ever lasting love" is my favourite line. You tell each other youll love them forever, but you can't really make a promise like that. BEAUTIFUL |

| Noah and the Whale – 5 Years Time Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Im certain this song isnt optimistic at all. Most of noah and the whales songs arent. Seeing as it says "In 5 years time we could..." at the beginning shows this is all just in his imagination. It seems to be about him and one of his good friends who he is in love with. Its all in future and conditional tense and at the end when it says "you might just prove me wrong", i see this as not being optimistic but instead its saying that she might prove his him wrong in thinking that they could ever be together. I do love this song though, I think the fact that it does sound happy and has the pessimistic undertones is the beauty of it (: |
