| this song was actually the sequel to "she paints me blue" (andrew mentions that fact a lot in live concerts), and the 'blue' in "she paints me blue" is about a blue lightbulb in a room he rented from his friend once, and the song itself is about the girl that he spent time with when he was there, so the 'dark blue' in this song is also about that light. (andrew mentions all of this a lot in concerts, so im not making it up hahah) | |

| no i know that hahah andrew mcmahon is my hero, i have every song he's ever done on my ipod. i was wondering what happened to jack, though, because this song isnt about andrew, its about a kid named jack who was andrew's friend's brother who had cancer when andrew was in high school. thats why its such a coincidence because he named the band jacks mannequin after this kid before he found out that he also had cancer, so its very ironic. | |

ahh amazingg i wish there was a studio recording of it... i think the "the world couldnt hold you down" part is about how jack just couldnt stay on his feet and everytime something good happened his cancer kept coming back to him does anyone know what actually happened to jack, though? ive been wondering for a really long time but i cant find anything...like is he still alive and if so, is he in remission? |

loveee this song this is my favorite off TGP an dyeah i definitely agree that its about marriage, and i think hes saying that its scary being he doesnt know what he doing or what hes getting himself into, but hes excited and happy and kind of scared in a good way |

i actually dont think this song is about cancer at all, i agree that its about writers block maybe its also a little bit about how he wasnt able to record or song while he was in the hospital, but its not directly about cancer theres an interview where he says that 'caves' is the only song on TGP thats directly about his leukemia |
