Sorry to dissapoint you,mate,but this song was written by Robby Krieger. As has been stated,it is a tribute to the late Otis Redding. I actually dig it,although it's not your "typical Doors song". Plus,I like Robby's "Bobdylanish" voice,ha! Wonder if they ever performed this in any concert.... |

This song was written by Robby Krieger,both lyrics and music. In fact,according to John Densmore's book "Riders on the storm", Morrison didn't want to sing it initially, because he diddn't want the people to think that he wanted them to "follow him with guns". Thus,the band stopped giving credits to each song to "The Doors" and gave them to the member who had come up originally with the melody or the lyric. Anyhow,a great song, Robby really had a talent in creating beatiful melodies. |
