In my opinion, this version with Jay-Z makes the song meaning much clearer. To me, it's about a person with huge success and fame [maybe even Chris himself haha], but they don't want to fall, or they just don't want it to change them. The line "I'm just waiting till the shine wears off" is a metaphor; he just wants to perform without all the money and fame, because that's not REAL, it's just temporary. See Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome See Jesus, see Judas See Caesar, see Brutus, see success is like suicide. I think that speaks for itself. Great song (: & I think Jay-Z is a great addition. |
