| Amanda Palmer – Rhyme & Rhythm Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think it's about a girl using her music as a vehicle for finding the right guy, i.e. love. | |
| Amanda Palmer – Trout Heart Replica Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The only reason I argued so adamantly for the literal interpretation of this song is because most people seemed to be ignoring it. It definitely is about more than just hurting animals. And just so you know, I am an open-minded pescetarian. I'm not a radical, or a bigot. | |

I don't need to argue with someone as ignorant and stubborn as you. I never said that this song doesn't have a double meaning. I'm just saying it's no reason to discard the literal interpretation. |

| Amanda Palmer – Trout Heart Replica Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Yes, it's about the pain that comes from hurting things. Those things are animals. | |
| Amanda Palmer – Trout Heart Replica Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Whatever. If this song were as straight forward as The Smiths' "Meat is Murder", you'd probably still try to find some alternate interpretation for it. |

| I think you're in denial. | |
| Amanda Palmer – Lonsome Organist Rapes Page Turner Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Uh, what? No, you're wrong. | |
| Amanda Palmer – Colorblind Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| You are dumb as hell. Every Dolls song is an Amanda song. | |
| Amanda Palmer – Trout Heart Replica Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I think you are mistaken. "Feed them details. Feed them e-mails. They'll eventually grow. It's not working. It's not working, not as far as I know." I think these lyrics are about the attempt to spread awareness of animal cruelty via the internet. You'd think that if people actually understood the suffering of animals on factory farms, if they saw the pictures and the videos online, their compassion for animals would grow. However, people continue to show a disregard for the lives and welfare of animals. |

| Amanda Palmer – Australia Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Or, because this verse comes just before the chorus, pressing the "finished" button could be the equivilent of giving up on life, or committing suicide. The alternative, which requires an equal or greater amount of courage, would be going to Australia. | |
| Amanda Palmer – Australia Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"I could make a button out of plaster that said "finished." I could nail it in my closet to the left side of the lightswitch. I could go out to a restaurant and try drinking to forget it, and then come home less afraid and then press it and press it. . ." I think these lyrics are particularly significant. The button is a metaphor for something that the narrator is afraid to do. That something would be an ending, but also the beginning of something else which could possibly be much better for the narrator. |

Think of how much money people spend on trying to look perfect. Face creams, tanning salons, surgery, diet pills, make up, hair dye, et cetera. Plus, so many models have eating disorders. Society is obsessed with unrealistic beauty ideals. The pressure to adhere to these ideals is immense. |
|
| Amanda Palmer – Echo Gallery Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Of course it's an Amanda song. The demo is kind old so her voice sounds younger. I don't think this song is about being a living statue. I think this song is about modeling, and modern beauty standards. Have you noticed how models look more and more like statues, and less like humans, all of the time? |

| I'm a real boy! | |
| Amanda Palmer – Trout Heart Replica Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Possible interpretation for some of the lyrics: "It's disturbing, how they're circling fifty feet from the pond" = "WTF are these fish doing on a fish farm? There's a pond fifty feet over yonder!" In other words, it's disturbing that they're on a fish farm when there is a natural body of water so close by. If in fact those are the correct lyrics. I can't be sure. |

This song could be about polyamory/non-monogamy. If it is, I approve. |
|
| Amanda Palmer – You May Kiss The Bride Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think this song is about how women, throughout history, have been victims of sexist ideals and sexist social structures. | |
| Amanda Palmer – Boyfriend In A Coma Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Oh, and the title of this song is also probably a reference to The Smiths' song "Girlfriend in a Coma". | |
| Amanda Palmer – Boyfriend In A Coma Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song has an important message: don't take the people you love for granted. They might be with you now, but "one look away and you're dead". If you tie the nurses to the doctors, they'll be forced to love and value each other. This is what the narrator wants. She wants the world to learn from her loss. | |
| Amanda Palmer – Trout Heart Replica Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Yes, I agree, but this song came from Amanda's experience with the trout. | |
| Amanda Palmer – Trout Heart Replica Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Killing animals is a big deal. The song is profound enough without looking for it's metaphors. | |
| Amanda Palmer – Trout Heart Replica Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| You guys are silly. Not everything is a metaphor for something else. This song is about killing animals. Namely, trout. | |
| Amanda Palmer – What's The Use Of Wond'rin' (feat. Annie Clark) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Rodgers and Hammerstein = sexist bastards | |
| Amanda Palmer – Trout Heart Replica Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think it's pretty obvious what this song is about. We know that Amanda is a pescetarian, and she says she used to be vegan. Here's her blog about watching the trout getting killed: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=90535988&blogID=455060105 The narrator of this song represents the vast majority of people. We look for easy solutions, but we never think of changing ourselves. We'd sooner ask for smaller hearts, than decide that we need to stop hurting animals. |

The lyrics I heard were slightly different: They've been circling, they've been circling Since the day they were born It's disturbing, how they're circling Fifty feet from the pond Pretty often, pretty often I don't wanna be told It's a problem, it's a problem It's a problem, I know And I won't keep what I can't catch In my bare hands without a net It's hard enough to walk on grass So conscious of the consequences They've been jerking, they've been jerking In a pail by the dock I know that oxygen Might make them blossom and die But I'm not gonna talk Feed them details, feed them e-mails They'll eventually grow It's not working, it's not working Not as far as I know And killing things is not so hard It's hurting that's the hardest part And when the wizard gets to me I'm asking for a smaller heart And I got you, and I got you Now I'll ruin it all Feeling helpless, acting selfish Being human and all And they're jumping, and they're jumping But they'll never get out Just keep touring, keep ignoring Be a good little trout And the butcher stops and winds the clock And lays their lives down on the block He raises up his hatchet and the Big hand strikes a compromise Wait, we'll trade you, wait Please, just one more day Then we'll go with no complaining No complaining, no complaining Stop And they're killing, and they're cutting And I think that I know And they're gutting, and they're gutting And I think that I know And it's beating, it's still beating And I think that I know And it's beating, look it's still beating But I don't wanna know And killing things is not so hard It's hurting that's the hardest part And when the wizard gets to me I'm asking for a smaller heart And if he tells me no I'll hold my breath until I hit the floor Eventually I know I'm doomed To get what I am asking for Now my heart is exactly the size Of a six sided die cut in half Made of ruby red stained glass Can I knock you unconscious As long as I promise I'll love you and I'll make you laugh And my heart is exactly the size Of a six sided die cut in half Made of ruby red stained glass Can I knock you unconscious As long as I promise I'll love you and I'll make you laugh |
