| Alice Cooper – Generation Landslide Lyrics

one of their best. it's an attack on the rampant consumerism at the end of the sixties. society was in turmoil – vietnam, the aftermath of korea, changing values, womens lib etc. just kat is right, it's all in there. (easy for me, i was alive then!) and the chorus was just a further tilt. here were these five kids outta phoenix who in a matter of six years went from being track and field jocks to america's number one nightmare. and millionaires in the process. if you were around then you'd know, despite all the publicity, these guys terrified parents. i kid you not - there's never been anything like it since. kids now go "manson is so bad. isn't amy winehouse shocking?!" but us parents just go "meh...manson is like alice lite. and amy... puh, a two beer screamer." i wish i'd had the foresight to write down the sorta stauff my friend's parents used to say about the coopers. |

apparently a tribute to the 'sponsorship' aspects of twelve step recovery programs, where the individual finds a like-minded person to 'mentor' them through their recovery process. lou's sponsor...that sucker would have had his work cut out for him. |

saw knopfler on nbc mannnny yearrrs ago, telling bryant gumbal how he'd overheard the appliance guys saying all that (as others have posted above). he did say he cut back their profanity a lot, he laughed when bryant proposed he send them royalties, and apparently the animators pretty well nailed their images for the video. |

yep, thermo4 has got it. in fact, i once read an interview with don fagan and he said it was possibly the most literal lyric he has ever written. he took the words from a couple's conversations on the stoop beneath his window in brooklyn at the time they were writing cbat. |

| The Cure – Like Cockatoos Lyrics

it's a vicious song. anyone who has heard a cockatoo knows what a hideous screeching noise they make. and a flock of them is agonisingly loud. for a night to sing out like cockatoos would be horrible. |
