| His wife didn't take his last name, and he's talking about how other people said that she didn't love him, so by not taking his name, it makes divorce more convenient. | |

| Say Anything – Yellow Cat (Slash) Red Cat Lyrics | 17 years ago |

i think the yellow cat red cat verse covers many things; mainly racsim and war, and how everyone in power who could actually do something about it, won't. simply because "these things have been around for ages, why would it stop now? besides, that could give someone grounds to criticize me" "to prove to one or both of them a cat is just a cat" a race is just a race? a country is just a country? a culture is just a culture? something like that? just trying to say that no one is right, no one is better than another? maybe? the second verse, i agree with alki3cat. its about how people prey upon others so that they may never have to see their own flaws. "you will not yank the carpet out": you wont be able to remove the foundation of his security, which is his criticism the third verse, i suppose is about people who try to ignore and rationalize it by "feeding quotes" and he used to disagree, but now he accepts and does it himself the fourth verse confused me for awhile, and i doubt i have it right, the "bugged on drugs" part means he has been through an event related to the rest of the song, perhaps a gang fight, and has been used in some way because of it. next, i think it means that he wants to meet someone who; behind their words and fake actions, is really a good person, not a wolf sheeps clothing. the "hybrid mother slash lover" part means he wants someone who can help him get over what he's been through by actually helping him, and "kissing his ears" i think means him hearing of someone who is trying to fix the big picture. the shotgun verse... the youth of the world is now evermore involved with the hate crimes and war going on today, and i think and doubt, that if he smokes a bit and preoccupies his thoughts with something petty and stupid, he wont think about it and itll be ok. the last part boggles me, maybe a sarcastic comment? final verse... is perhaps opinions are crossroads and he no longer know what he thinks, so he's in the middle. boredom is now everyday life. fakest fucks=whorish people who lie and act to be cool and accepted and get laid. faux-finest finds=the people who buy it and believe it. and this is how its been as long as anyone can remember and its wrong, but is stays. and lastly, the chorus. if i was right, its really simple: ignorance is bliss. ignorance and the happiness he finds in it are his friend, thats how its been, that thats how it always will be. i think this was written as the typical brainwashed citizen. it keeps making me think of that movie American History X. great song, extremely deep, or maybe not, still love it. any feedback is welcome |
