I think Luke realized that some guy (not necessarily his friend) is eyeing his girlfriend or trying to flirt with her or something. So Luke takes his girlfriend and tries to get away from this guy cuz he's being such a douche. And then he's saying that he wants to have sex with her to kind of show the dude that she is Luke's girlfriend and no one else can have her. It seems to me that Luke is taunting the guy by saying "Won't you come on over". Then "the city heated up," which probably means that their little dispute over the girl "heated up". And the two guys probably had a few drinks beforehand, so "it got blurry cuz I'd had enough" probably means that they were drunk, and that Luke had "had enough" with this guy. Then, the guy was trying to get in bed with the girl: "he tried to take your soul", but he wasn't successful. Then Luke is taunting the guy again cuz after multiple tries, the guy still hasn't been able to get the girl. The last verse.. I don't think Luke means it that literally. I think it means that the guy is really ready to fight for the girl. And then Luke doesn't know if the guy wants sex from the girl, or if he just wants her cuz he's drunk and doesn't have any better judgement.

I think this song is about how he has all the material things he could want- money, a house, etc. But he isn't really happy because he lost his girl. |
