| Ivoryline – Vessels Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Yes, the lyrics from xmatadorx are right. I love the lyrics in all the Ivoryline "Vessels" songs. What does it mean to be salt and light in a world that's tasteless Salt and light in a world of darkness This is taken from Mt 5:13,14. Jesus said we should be the salt and light of the earth. Ivoryline is saying that we are supposed to be the "vessels" that carry Jesus to the world. So, they ask, what does it mean to be salt and light? How can we do this? How do we show Jesus to the world? |

| Children 18:3 – Homemade Valentine Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| In a radio interview, Children 18:3 said what bbgamazing said. It's about the road to Emmaus. And the part that says "Are you the only stranger? Have you not seen" in the song is referring to the part in the bible passage that says, "One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, 'Are you only a visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in these days?'" They don't believe Jesus really rose from the dead until the end. "Oh so foolish. Oh hearts so hard. The foolish remind that hearts are blind. Would you open your mind and see?" | |
| Owl City – The Technicolor Phase Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I completely agree with you. I interpret it as God telling us he is everywhere. God is love, God is everything around us, so it makes the most sense to me. "You can go anywhere you wish cause I'll be there, wherever you are." God is really with us all the time! This could be about a girl, too, but as our human relationships are just foreshadowings of our marriage to God in Heaven, I think it relates either way. This is a really cool way of expressing love. Basically, it's saying I am all the beauty you see around you. I am part of all the material things you see and feel. |

| Jon Foreman – My Love Goes Free Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Okay, so I know in the quote below that Jon Foreman isn't talking about this song, but he is talking about "Enough to Let Me Go" from Switchfoot's "Hello Hurricane". Seeing as the two songs have a similar concept of letting go of things you love, I thought this quote could shed some light on the meaning of "My Love Goes Free": JON FOREMAN: "I was thinking about how love (not just lust or codependency that commonly flood the tunes on the airways) actually involves quite a bit of faith. There's a lot of letting go involved. Two souls in love is an intricate dance of give and take. I can be a fairly solitary person from time to time. Sure, I love being with people, but I also need time alone. I guess I thrive on the poles. So this song is about the dance involved in a relationship the coming together and letting go. The song equates love with breathing- pulling in and releasing. Or a seed, for the seed to grow it has to be dropped and buried. In our barcode media, love is often portrayed as consumption. As consumers in a commercial driven culture we can begin to view other souls as objects, or potential cures for our deepest fears and insecurities. "Perhaps if I found the right lover I would no longer feel this deep existential despair." But of course no human soul could be the Constant Other, the face that will never go away. Only the infinite can fill that role. But the silence can be deafening. It's a fearful thing to be alone. Do you love me enough to let me go? "I can't live without you"- "I would die if you ever left me"- These are not the songs of love, these are the songs of consumption." |

| Search The City – Detroit Was Built On Secrets Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I like the line: "We'll all steal looks when we can, driving by the accident, but we never stop" It's so true. We all want to know the gossip and all the secrets of scandalous things going on, but we don't use the knowledge for good. We want to know so we can spread the gossip instead of do something positive with it. Our intentions are wrong. We never stop at the accident to see if they need help. We never work to clean up the things that go wrong. Instead, we tell all the secrets and talk bad about people. This song is definitely about rumors and gossip and how it affects a person. |

| Search The City – Bigger Scars Make Batter Stories Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This seems like an account of a person talking to God, feeling inadequate for not doing everything God has been asking and becoming overwhelmed by guilt. He is trying to find his way back to God, but he just keeps falling into sin. "Can you see the same sky from where you are? Do the Heavens really stretch so far?" He is asking God what the view is like from Heaven. Maybe wondering if God sees his sin the same way that he does. (Or wondering if he is really as unworthy as he feels.) "From you to me and all that's left in between This is my nightmare, the reason I lie awake at night" All he longs for is to be close to God, so the distance between him and God (the separation that divides him, i.e. sin) is his nightmare. He feels so far from the one thing he longs for. "'cause close don't count when you're counting on me This is how we'll ruin everything" He is admitting that he is unworthy and that he ruins all things that God gives him to do. He should be doing what God wants him to do, what God has assigned him to do and is counting on, but he keeps messing up. "And every step I take I should be taking back to you" Here he is saying how he should be stepping back towards God, where he really wants to be, even though he's not. He has lost direction and wants to find his way back home. |

| I agree! I read the same thing. It makes a lot of sense when read that way, too. | |

| Simply_Me is right. I read it was about his brother, too, who passed away. If you read it that way, it makes so much more sense. | |
| FM Static – Take Me As I Am Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Although it bothers me sometimes when people insult religious aspects of Christian songs, I'm at least encouraged that they are still listening to the music. I want everyone to have a relationship with God and experience the joy and release he provides. If they at least hear the beliefs, then maybe sometime down the road they will realize they are true. As long as the opinions are clean and honest, I think the dialogue opened by these comments is interesting and offers good perspective to everyone-Christian and non-Christian. Sometimes we are so trapped in our own minds that we can't see how anyone could feel any differently. Challenging our beliefs is healthy--it forces us to really search for what we believe. | |
| FM Static – Take Me As I Am Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Although I believe You should be capitalized, I understand how you can take it in a human relationship context. Human relationships are similar to our relationship with God. Specifically, a relationship between a man and a woman is meant to be a reflection of our relationship with God. It's cool that you can see the way human relationships are connected to divine relationships. You're experiencing an earthly form of God's love, created to give us a better grasp of God himself. | |
| Falling Up – How They Made Cameras Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Star-crossed means doomed. Like in Romeo in Juliet, the two are star-crossed lovers. Since people thought that the astrological signs determined their fates, if the stars were aligned a certain way, it could spell disaster. Like tenshi372 quoted, "the hope would not lie in our actions and the actions of others to determine our ultimate fate". Since there are no more star-crossed tears, it is saying that we don't believe destiny rules us anymore. There is something better guiding us: Jesus. |

| Falling Up – Captiva Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"I'm leaping out too far I've never been so sure Letting go of charts and falling close to stars." This part seems to be about their view that "faith becomes a true wonder when it reaches an area that is beyond spectrums that science can touch." They are leaping out (take a leap of faith) further than science allows, but they are so sure because it is faith that is guiding, not science. They let go of charts, because this isn't about science anymore. And with all this faith, the result is falling close to stars. Science can't take you that far, but faith can. It is wonderful and dominates science, but also lets you see science more clearly. Amazing. |

| Family Force 5 – Radiator Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song screams Christianity to me with all of its symbolism. "We are the chosen nation"-like the Bible verse about being a beacon of a light to the world and a city set on a hill. "Hey you, you’re blowing my mind again Out of my skull I feel the levitation I feel my skin crawling off my soul I feel your radiation" This is talking about feeling God's love. This could be about going to heaven or just feeling heaven on earth. We can feel God all around us at all times (his radiation) and he lifts us up (levitation). Then, once you feel God's love, you can shine for the rest of the world. "I'll be the radiator, just like you. Radiator, burn it on through." We are called to be the radiator of love. We are called to be Christ to the world. |
