To me this song is like a boy's message to a girl saying that although his image or reputation says he wont be good to her, he promises otherwise. "Have faith in me Cause there are things that I've seen I don't believe So cling to what you know And never let go You should know things aren't always what they seem" this verse says that person is using their experiences to say that somthing can seem one way, but he knows that is often not what it really is. very simple, the last line sums it up saying "things aren't always what they seem" I said I'd never let you go And I never did I said I'd never let you fall Then I'd always make sense If you didn't have a chance Then I never did You'll always find me right there again This is like the boy saying to the girl "see how far we've come?" and "I'm still good to you" reiterating that he is a good person the rest is simply just a repetition of the chorus and other verses describing how the protagonsit feels pressure to break her heart but he can fight against it and will continue to love her. Such an awesome song, I love it. Catchy and with meaningful lyrics to match. |

Personally, I found Taylor Swift's image and style to be annoying and pretentious but when I heard this song I realised that she really does have talent and she is trying to set an example. At the moment I'm fifteen and just like in this song, I feel the pressures of sex and friendship and school and the way this song is written almost brings me to tears because it really explains all my fears and thoughts that I would have never spoken outloud. It's also kind of an inpsiring song, trying to tell all girls just like me to be careful and to "look before you fall", because alot of the bad choices we make we are fully aware of the consequences. But honestly, I almost completely despised Taylor Swift until this song. It's very well done :) |

so I'm totally on the same page in that this song is about mourning the positives of a lost loved one, etc and i'm wondering, though, could the lines "Now I'm standing at a crossroad don't know which path is calling me I wanna follow in your footsteps so you know you're never alone" be interpreted as the feeling of wanting to take your own life when you're consumed by the death? just wondering.. this song makes me cry btw :( its so sweet |

i totally agree with thrwmyhrtawy. i heard this and thought "i cant believe this is escape the fate" i mean, compare the start of this song to the start of my apocalypse. i like craig but i cant believe he turned escape the fate into THIS. |

For this song I kinda thought it was a guy who is so smitten by this girl who is not allowed to be with him (I believe because of her surroundings, like parents, think he is unsuitable - as opposed to how she actally feels about him) but he knows he has a chance with her so he says I'll love you forever and I'll wait for you.. :) |

I definitely think this song is about a one night stand. In more detail, the start of the song is the beginning of the uhh.. "intimacy" and then the second verse is him in maybe a bar or dance club, w/e, trying to catch the attention of the girl The 3rd verse/bridgey thing is his reasoning for when he plans to have sex with her and leave her during the night (and most likely not call her back), also mentioning that he has persuaded this girl with a line (which she "bought") Then after that is him leaving during the night, explaining that he had a fine nigh with the girl, but his intentions as a player would be to forget the whole deal. Then after that is just more rhythm and him repeating the lines etc |

I always thought of the "You're better in my bones" to be a sexual reference..but maybe I'm just too perverted to see it any other way? :/ I think that at the end, and this might be the dramatic part of me (forgot the pervertedness), but I think at the end is a reference to suicide? Like, as if this story were a movie, then this guy would fall or drown to his death, fade to black, and have the credits roll. The one thing that is easy to deduct from this song is that it's about a dude dealing with a break-up that meant alot to him. |
