| Taylor Swift – Mean Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Lol she has this but also wrote Better Than Revenge which is all about slut-shaming a girl for "stealing" a boyfriend who willingly left her. Isn't Taylor too old for such pettiness? | |
| Röyksopp – The Girl And The Robot Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Oh, I thought the singer sounded like Robyn; the fact that it's her makes me like it more. But I agree that the lyrics are very plain and self-explanatory. I wish the lyrics matched the great sound this song has. | |
| Kanye West – Amazing Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Lyrically, this is one of Kanye's worst, in my opinion. And why the line about sodium and high blood pressure? | |
| The Orion Experience – Obsessed With You Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I'm not sure, but I suspect that this song might be about obsession. This song is funny. :) |

| Beck – Modern Guilt Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| If it's apathy, though, wouldn't he not feel afraid or ashamed? Maybe it's just the notion that we're all supposed to be a part of something better, but our society seems more individualized at times, which makes it feel that doing things for your own benefit is a bad thing. | |
| Arcade Fire – My Body Is a Cage Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think of this song as an expression of the limitation of possibilities that one goes through in life, especially because I've been feeling this way lately. There is so much that he (or me) wants to accomplish, but mortality blocks that, which sometimes leads to a lot of frustration. So even though his "mind holds the keys" for all these things that he wants (the one he loves) to become reality, it's not possible to do everything. | |
| Lykke Li – Let It Fall Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I wonder if it's on purpose that she sings "so I weep" like "so happy." Maybe it's just my hearing. This is a very upbeat song, though, and I agree with zito. | |
| Fujiya & Miyagi – Dishwasher Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"when you're pre-menstrual i will play chill-out compilation instrumentals" I think these are my favorite Fujiya & Miyagi lyrics. Love isn't about the grand gestures, but about the little subtle things. |

| Jens Lekman – I'm Leaving You Because I Don't Love You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Haha, gahcioi. I love the directness of the chorus and the lines: "but my excuses were babies of now that i just could not hold" It seems as if his excuses would have seemed pure enough, but were really just fabricated and would have passed away eventually. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Marching Bands of Manhattan Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Overall, I think most people's interpretations of the song are similar, if not identical: a man wishing for his lover to see past her sorrow and him dealing with their relationship problems. When I first heard this song, I interpreted it along the lines of two other users who mentioned the impending death of the "you" in the story. Whether it's mentally or physically, the person it's addressed to can't see the world for what it is and is slowing drowning in the interpretation of what life is supposed to be. I find it strange that these lines go together: I wish we could open our eyes To see in all directions at the same time Oh, what a beautiful view If you were never aware of what was around you I took the last two lines as a complete sentence, saying sort of the same thing as "ignorance is bliss." Maybe the "seeing" is perception of time (like seeing backwards as seeing into the past) rather than what the present situation is. Wherever the person is might not be as beautiful as his/her memories of Manhattan, and that's why the singer wants to bring the city to him/her. |
